This is a win for Arizona no matter what, because taking a goalie on waivers and flipping them for a mid-round pick at the deadline is the perfect move. Still don't know what Dallas is gonna do with all their goalies though lol

Bishop, Khudobin and Holtby all injured. Stars had no NHL-caliber backup. Yes, a high price to pay, so hopefully Wedgewood can be the backup for a couple years.

An under the radar deadline deal, but he's probably the player who's made the biggest contribution to his new team so far. I changed my vote based on last night's game in Carolina. He won the game for them. 44 saves including 18 in a scoreless first period. Maybe Oettinger could have done the same thing, but he can't play every game. If the Stars make the playoffs by a point or two, then last night's game makes it a good trade even if he does nothing the rest of the season.

The fact that he was a waiver claim a few months ago is not relevant to this trade because he wasn't going to be available on waivers this time, though if Arizona can take advantage of their low position in the standings to claim guys on waivers and then trade them to teams higher in the standings, good for them. When they claimed Harri Sateri I was surprised that they didn't trade him back to Toronto for a draft pick.
