Probably nothing. We got a center who is about as good as Sturm defensively and still has unlocked potential offensively, we upgraded in net, and we added more toughness on the blue line. I still don't love the idea of getting a rental goalie, but Guerin addressed the needs we had. We definitely still need a top 6 center but I don't see us paying the massive price for Miller

I’d imagine we’re basically done at this point. Unless we have to move a contract for roster size purposes, not sure on that.

This is the team I would imagine.

Did Chi retain on Fleury? I like that the pick is a 2nd unless the wild win 2 rounds and MAF wins 4 games.

You guys are gonna love Midds. Makes great decisions defensively, hits HARD, sticks up for teammates. Can even pitch in on offense a bit. I love getting Kahkonen but will miss Midds. Good luck in the playoffs! I will be cheering for Minny.

I wonder what it would cost to extend Fleury for a year or two now that Kahkonen is gone. There's really no one else in the system ready to come up next year.

I have a hunch Guerin intends to extend him if we go far in the playoffs. Guerin was so adamant that he wouldn't trade his first for a rental, but we gave up a conditional first.

I would think MAF talked to BG about the desire to play another year so probably 2-3 million for next season maybe?

Maybe Fleury gives Guerin a discount since he's nearing the end of his career. If we assume Fiala is gone next year, they could probably give him around ~$3m and still fit everyone else in. Middleton is a RFA so he'll probably be back which would make Deslauriers likely the only rental. Not a bad deadline if Fleury works out.

I imagine at this point fiala is gonzo in the offseason and the wild look to extend fleury 2 years for about 2.5-3m. Then after next season talbot is gone and there’s a year of wallstedt and fleury before wallstedt takes the net over.

Not to be a pessimist, but I find it highly unlikely that pick becomes a 1st. Not only do we have to make the WCF, Fleury has to WIN 4 games.

But I can almost guarantee you Fleury is resigning.

@TanSor @jnowariak also I should mention he's a great character. His postgame interviews produce memorable funny quotes and he is SUPER humble. After all he was a 7th round pick and took SJ 5 years to develop him into a stable NHL defenseman.

Agree 100%, I still don't view us as a legitimate contender. Now if we somehow found a way to acquire Miller without moving a good roster player (like Fiala), that's a different story... But I don't see us doing that.

The stache alone is worth it. I like the pick up A LOT. Probably more than I like the Fleury deal.

Yeah, I'm really excited about that trade - more so than the Fleury deal. Middleton seems like the exact type of player we needed on our blue line.

He said he grew the stache to cover up his toothless grin when he goes to the grocery store it doesn't creep out the workers.

Sounds like Russo will really enjoy covering him. Maybe he's extended for 2-3 years at 1.25 million or so?

I think he gets a bit more than that but not too much more.

Not too hard to get him into 14 games, but still the chance he's a rental I guess.

Find it hard to believe he won’t be playing next to Spurg. He played next to EK65 against tough comp. Goose needs a break.

Adding a depth center is about all I see MN possible doing. All they have is Rask if an injury happens.
