Respect to Guerin giving his team a chance to compete and not just show up in the playoffs.

Could be good for Minny if he works out, not having a great year this year analytically but could fix their goalie issues with a bounce back.
Definitely a good deal for the Hawks, they get a guaranteed top 2 round pick for a rental that they got for peanuts. No lose situation for them here.

Wild win the trade, but Blackhawks don't come out too shabby getting a second round pick for free thanks to Vegas and getting a Second is still goof for it being well known Flower would only go to Minnesota.

Chicago managed to turn Markus Hakkarainen into either a second or a late first.

That's a massive win for Chicago and amounts to an overpayment by Minnesota.

And it represents what might have been a missed opportunity for Vegas.

Congrats to the Hawks front office.

If it becomes a 1st round pick, then that means Minnesota did well enough that they won this trade. The only way Chicago wins this trade is if Minnesota flames out in the first round and Fleury retires / signs with a different team.

That said, they got more than they paid, so that's a win in that regard.

It's weird to me that there is retention on Fleury... We have a ton of cap space, does Guerin plan on making more moves?

If they miss the playoffs this year, then someone should get fired.

While this is true, it’s not the whole truth. Vegas had to move cap space and everyone knew that. They weren’t going to help them out. Cap space rules all decisions.

Instead, look at this as “a 5th for Fleury” and moving up 3 rounds to take 50% of his cap hit.

Still doesn't mean they couldn't have either found an actual return for the reigning Vezina winner or just keep him and not trade for Dadonov.
