don’t understand this deal for NYR, they have plenty of RHD depth

Pretty good trade for both sides. Philadelphia picks up a top-100 pick for an expiring contract. New York gets a solid RHD who has played some top-pair minutes over the last seasons with the Flyers and has held his own.

Nice return for Braun
Some Philly fans were over valuing him but I don't think anyone can complain about a 3rd for a 6-7 guy

Gallant won't trust Schneider or Lundkvist in the playoffs for better or worse

Not a bad deal for rangers at all. Mid round pick for a decent defenseman. Hopefully he pushes out Nemeth (i know lefty rights bs), worst case scenario is he is just a depth move in case the rookies can't handle playoff pressure or an injury. Probably should've only cost a 4th but interdivision trades always pay somewhat of a premium

Chuck Fletcher spends a second and a third on Braun.

And then sells him to a division rival for only a third.

Loss for the Flyers, win for the Rangers.

Remember, 3rd round picks only have a 50/50 chance of playing even a single game in the NHL. So this is likely injury insurance for AHL depth.

With the way the deadline has been = underpayment
Regular year= fair.
I like the addition. I would necessarily trust scneider / lundqvist on 3rd pair. Nice stability
