Guys what are your thoughts if the nhl ever added 2 more wildcard teams on each side. And then those 4 teams would play a best of 3 series WC1 vs WC4 and WC2 vs WC3 for the last 2 spots

No need for that, it's perfectly balanced right now, 16 in, 16 out, makes the playoffs longer than they need to be

What happens if they end up over the salary cap after the deadline? Throw people on waivers in hopes of a claim? Do they have to buy out players?

The points were always going to be there, the guy can put the puck in the net. But I would caution resigning him and especially long term, he is having a negative impact on his teammates and the Oilers are not good with him on the ice at 5-on-5.

Yeah he is a forward, he is gonna be better offensively then defensively and I don't really care, I am not the kinda person who worships analytics and gets mad when forwards can't play defense as well a dman I mean yeah it bonus when can but to me it shouldn't be a top priority for forwards. And so far there hasn't been any incidents or drama with him, And I would be fine with a 2 year deal in the 3-4mil range

Ever think of starting your own business? You seem like the kind of person that would thrive off of not being dictated by someone else's schedule.

Dropshipping is one thing I'd seriously look into if I were you. Little to no startup costs, and can be super profitable if you research what you're doing.

Also since covid, many jobs are remote, so your location may not be an issue for some NHL-related jobs such as social relations, etc.

I also know a whole bunch of clubs are always looking for out-of-market scouts, so if you looked you may be able to get a job as a European NHL scout....... you'd be at an advantage for that job, as it's a lot easier for a team to ask you to go see a couple Finnish minor league games or KHL games....

Whatever you decide to do, best of luck!

Interesting ideas.

I haven't really given much thought to starting my own business due to a close person trying to do it - with little to no success. It has always backfired for them, and as a result they're in huge debt for the rest of their lives. So as for starting out a business - let's just say it is risky, especially right now, and the experience I've seen around me hasn't exactly worked out. Not to mention I don't really have a business idea, or any kind of skillset to sell to anyone. Plus as a person honestly I need someone to schedule things for me, otherwise I can't manage anything in time or properly lol.

As for the scouting thing - I haven't really thought of making it a job, but rather a hobby, and I want to keep it that way. Watching sports, and exclusively hockey and motorsports, have always been a dear thing to me as it takes me off from the daily work and all that, and I don't want to make it feel like a chore to me. That always happens when I start to do something not from my own volition.

But honestly thank you for the ideas. It warms my heart that someone cares to push me forward.

I would defiantly prioritize getting Puljujärvi locked up first, whatever is left, sure give him a 1-2 year deal

No idea, they'd have to try and go under the cap and if they can't the NHL would probably hit them with ??? penalty

If Tkachuk doesn’t want to re-sign longterm, who wins a Tkachuk-Kyrou swap?

I vote the penalty should be to send all their picks to Buffalo, to further troll Eichel

STL. Kyrou is great, but Tkachuk is elite.

Yeah . If Tkachuk doesn’t want to re-sign , I think it’s a good deal for both teams . With maybe St Louis adding another piece

They'd definitely need to shed cap, as Tkachuk is likely going to make 8 figures on his next contract.

Yep, but also lol Vegas and they're screwed cap wise if Dadonov goes back

This is why you respect your players. If Dadonov gets to choose, he should veto the trade and go back to Vegas.
They deserve it for not even attempting to communicate.

Trade or waivers until they are compliant. Dadonov is still going to be traded (or claimed on waivers), but it might cost more now because everyone knows you're in a bind and you have less options.
No playoff team is going to want him. Bubble teams likely are out as well. If it's 10 non-playoff teams on his NTC, there might only be a handful of possible destinations.
If a couple of those deny due to cap/term, you have maybe 3 options left.
Small market means higher price (to dump).

Assuming we're talking about Matthew, his QO is 9 and his performance probably warrants 10.
