Merkley seems to be on the verge of becoming an NHL player. I like this trade for NYR

Merkley was never getting another shot at the NHL club. Even though he deserved it. Hopefully NYR gives him that chance. Bitetto reports straight to the Cuda I assume.

Worst case Merkley will put up some points in the AHL, Bitetto won’t likely make much of a difference on defence in the AHL or see many/any NHL minutes.

We have wayyyy too many LHD's. Cutting the crop for a well-producing AHL C is a good move. I say good trade but not understanding SJ's thinking here.

Bitetto isn't bad, but id rather younger and more nhler nick Merkley than him.
