We just got a Roster Player, 2nd, 7th round pick for a bottom pairing defender. What a trade.
KEN HUGHES MASTERCLASS
Hughes IS good, with his Boston College Law Degree and his 26 years as an Agent he completely schooled Ken Holland with his 1 week as a Vacuum Salesman, his 14 years as an NHL Scout & Director and his 28 years in Management; can owners Trade GM’s?
William Lagesson has the potential to be better than Brett Kulak.
Probably because he's already better then Brett Kulak right now.
Quoting: SevenLeg
lol no
Agreed, he's not better. And Lagesson was going to be a UFA if he had stayed in Edmonton as he needs to play 18 of the last 20 in order to retain his RFA status. So it was just cap going the other way in the form of a guy who cleared waivers twice this season.
If Edmonton reaches the cup final, they have to send their 2022 2nd to Chicago (a condition on the Duncan Keith trade). Therefore, they would need to send the 2023 one instead.
Habs are basically trading for Edmonton's next available 2nd round pick
Overpayment is a vilified word here but it shouldn't be, it's not the GMs job to be fair or he's a failure! The job is to win and keep winning throughout the years!
Its the same at the draft, you overpay to move up but if you love the player like a KAndre Miller in New York then it's worth the 'overpayment'
The only time things are terrible is when you sit on your hands and do nothing wasting a core like Winnipeg Jets GM Chevy or when you give away picks for no reason but to fool yourself into competing like Stan Bowman.
You absolutely pay the price when you have a McDavid and Draisaitl especially for a solid player like Kulak. Appearances be damned
