Why would anyone want Korshkov. The guy has already proven he cannot cut it in North America and if they want to give him another chance it wont happen when the Ruskies drop the iron curtain again.

This is kinda like the Foligno trade, except just not as big.

Dubas is still hanging his head in shame for that move.

Korshkie would have been a regular on the Leafs roster by now, if Dubas wasn't so butt hurt over any prospects the team had which weren't his selections.

Meh, he’s nothing more than a random throw in.

Domi has been steadily declining since his 28-goal season in Montreal, didn’t do much in his only playoff opportunity, and has been having difficulty finding the net lately, but this is pretty much zero risk for Carolina. Maybe they can revitalize him like they did with Niederreiter a few years ago. Worst case he’s insurance for the playoffs. Hreschuk is a 2021 third-rounder so if he’s somebody Columbus had on their list but their turn didn’t come up at the right time, that’s a decent return for Columbus.

I was surprised that Florida got involved. I wondered how they had any cap space left after all the moves they’d been making, but I see that Ekblad is on LTIR so I guess he’s done until the playoffs. Maybe they think Korshkov still has some potential, or Zito just owed Waddell a favor (or now Waddell owes Zito one). I assume they had no intention of signing Inamoto.

Inamoto and Korshkov are just throw-ins to keep the contracts even.

Strange one for Columbus, seems like they got nothing out of this. Also strange that FLA is in on the deal for salary retention.

Clear CAR win here.

wait what, why isn't domi in Car
I think they are missing a piece lol

still great pick up for minimal cost

Domi adds a gritty aspect we kind of lack, I love this for the canes!

Edit: Thanks banks that looks better

Hold up, CAR lacks grit? They're absolutely relentless on the puck.

This clearly shows what FLA thinks about Domi. BIG rivals paying 1.3M for Domi to play against them in the playoffs. I understand the need for a prospect, but why broker a deal to help CAR get a player they want for the playoffs? Just not good mojo for a deep playoff run.

I get Florida using nothing but cash/cap space to to get an asset if they weren't going to use it, and the actual financial cost is probably around $300k, not the ~$1.3M in cap space, but $300k seems like an expensive 6th round pick, and swapping AHL depth doesn't seem to be worth that. Not bad, just strange they would bother for a 6th.

Carolina managed to find a way to add a player at a place of need for a pretty small cost. Knowing Carolina, they will find a way to slot Domi in a way to take full advantage of what he is, and mitigate his weaknesses, which they seem to do a really good job of on a regular basis.

Love getting Domi to add some more goal scoring and grit to our forward core. I've just always hated when the Canes play against him, but hey, now he'll be our pest. I could see him as a good X-factor for the Canes leading into the playoffs.

Honestly if I knew Domi would be this cheap I would have been fine with us doing this. Cause the way people were describing it it sounded like he would cost what Gio and Blackwell did lul.

Yep Korshkov probs not gonna be in NA as I remember him saying he planned on staying in the KHL as he was playing top 6 there.
