Keep your 6th. Pettersson for a 3rd is fair. Red Wings accept. 👍

Ya, the only way the Pens can afford to resign RFA’s Heinen/Kappy and UFA’s Geno, Letang, Rust is to move off one of the LHD making 4M. Especially with PO-J NHL ready and they extended Friedman and Ruhwedel.

Even though Kappy’s QO is 800k and Heinen QO is 1.1M but both have arbitration rights too. I really could see Kappy only getting around 1.8M too. Not the 2.8M I have here. And Heinen around the same. Not the 2.2M I have.

It’s sucks losing Pettersson. The reason the Pens are good this season is their defense and Jarry. Especially with Sid/Geno/Blueger/Zucker missing a lot of time and inconsistent play from the 2nd and 3rd line. A good portion of the beginning of the season the Pens 1st line was Guentzel -Carter -Rust and 2nd line Heinen-E-Rod-Kappy.

It was a luxury having Dumoulin, Pettersson, and Matheson. They can’t afford it anymore.

I still think Hexy will find a way to dump Zucker. That should open things up. Or maybe even buy him out.

Zucker -Carter -Kappy is a potent 3rd line. Zucker only has one year left on his deal and just turned 30 in Jan.

He’s just caught the injury bug the last two seasons with the Pens. Even though he hasn’t even had steady linemates or gotten a consistent/regular chance to even get hot for a week or 2, he still has 21 goals and 43 points in 84 games with the Pens(basically a 82 game season).

Let him getting going and watch out. He’ll show why the Pens traded Galenchyuk, a top prospect(CalenAddison) and a 1st round pick for him. He’s had a season of 33 goals and 64 points before. We’ll see what he does when he comes back healthy. Same with Rakell. Gotta see how he performs on Geno’s line.

Lol. Ok, a stay at home D-man. Long stick, long reach, moves the puck well, good hockey IQ, plays 16-20 minutes a night on a contending/playoff team. With playoff experience. Making 4M per. Just 25 years old.

He’s a 2nd pairing D on a good team. At worst a really good 3rd pairing on a playoff team.

Pens fans arnt talking about trading him cause he’s unwanted or unproductive. It’s b/c there is a salary cap. It’s a luxury having having two 2nd pairing LHD in Pettersson/Matheson. Along with Dumoulin.

For what D-men are getting paid now, 4Mper for a stay at home D-man, Plus(+) 44 for his career and contributes offensively enough. Still only 25 years old, with playoff experience is looking more and more like a steal every day.

Keep clambering for flashy D-men like Ghoustisbhere, V.Mete, Phillips Myers, Dermott, etc. while literally every NHL GM would rather responsible D-men like Pettersson.

Plus, I don’t think it’s your choice. You mean “in your opinion, Redwings decline”. Cause in my opinion, and other RedWings Fans that already commented opinions are that “Wings accepted”.

Wings fans even said keep the 6th. A 3rd is fair for Pettersson..lol. So u are on an island with that take.

I want no part of Malkin @ $8m with his durability issues. We really need to get him closer to $6.5ish to make it work.

Geno has said he’s a very rich man and not worried about money. 8M is tops. I’d say 7M-8M. Probably 7.5M. No way he does 6.5M w/ Sid making 8.5M. I would be willing to bet a lot on that.

And Sid has said numerous times he took a hometown discount and for it to work, everyone needs to take alittle less. So Geno is probably worth 8M and takes 7.5M.

Geno still a top 10 Center in the whole NHL.
