Meloche has actually carved himself out an NHL job this season. Sharks would rather keep Meloche (who's cheap) than pay a 3rd to take on a cap dump.

Detroit passes, Jeff Petry doesn't fit our rebuild timeline. Petry making $6,250,000 x 3 years is just too much.

I know! how do you trade a near min 6/7 D for a overpriced 4th liner and then have the audacity to add a better pick going back to montreal. this is an easy no

Armia to Buffalo with a 3rd for a 7th or future considerations. Some seem to think Buffalo is up to something with free agents but history says it’s not likely. They need to get to the floor.

Don’t have to move Hoffman, he’s been bad, yes, but he’s missed a few games and he's under a new coach. Keep him next year and trade him in the offseason/ TDL where we can retain salary and it won’t be a huge issue.

Petry is a difficult equation to balance, finding the right components of the package. He is not a negative asset like people keep saying. Look at what Giordano got, and Petry has one bad half-season and everyone says he’s a cap dump. That being said, I think people who are undervaluing him will be surprised when they see the return. Or I’m just an idiot and have no clue and he gets a 7th rounder.

Giordano is a UFA at the end of the season, Petry has a cap hit of 6.25M for 3 more seasons, that's everyone's issue with Petry. I bet if he was a UFA at seasons end he would have been traded for a 1st plus more. But in this particular case the creator wants Detroit to take Petry, who would be sitting in the press box most nights, plus our young second line centre and still give up a second. That just seems ridiculous to me. The fact that he did seem to regress or play very poorly early on in the season will scare GMs into not wanting to commit to his term. In the last few years here we have seen alot of players drop off drastically in their older years.

Detroit does not want Jeff Petry and it will cost a cap dump fee to move him. This offer is not remotely close.

Detroit have no use for a RD, especially not a 34 year old one.

This is something that only takes 3 seconds to find out by looking at the Detroit roster on this site. We have Seider, Hronek, and Lindström all of which are 10 years or more younger than Petry.

All these Petry-to-Detroit trades here are just lazy garbage.

Petry is still top 4 D in still league GM knows, have good young D in the wings team and need someone to show them how to play , suter doesnt fit Yzerman type of play, will sign or trade for another center could be a 3rd or 4th pick instead i give you that.

Lol you need veterans D Yzerman got leddy last year didn’t pan out, and if you want your D to look like buffalo you need to surround them with other talented D petry doesn’t want to play in MTL anymore otherwise stats wise is top 10-15 over last 4-5 years

CBJ pass.

Maybe but CBJ has all difficulty in the world to sign FA and have no real prospect at center so could be a good option B to Jarmo

Petry is RIGHT SHOOTING defender.

Detroit needs LEFT SHOOTING defenders.

Don't you get it? People are laughing at you here.

Eh, it’s really not as bad a problem as most people realize.

And also Cole Sillinger…so I’d say Suter is like a Plan C if he gets seriously injured.
