That's a good offer, but it is unlikely the Jets trade DeMelo unless the cap forces their hand.

HABS would not do that trade during the off season they would wait until the next TDL to get a bigger return.

If Price remains on LTIR into next year the HABS will sign an extension with Allen. Too early to tell

How much more do you think he'll want?

Not much, but he has a 3m QO, so he'd definitely need at least that.

Well Mrazeks in the deal, I know he's been AWFUL this season but he could bounce back, but I see cap problems if Price comes off the LTIR with 3 goalies all making more than 2.5m

I don`t think the HABS have a Cap space problem going into next year. We traded away $12.3M for picks and prospects. We have plenty of space. It will depend on what CAP space is left after UFA signings this summer. I don`t believe there will be many players interested in playing for a losing team

That's what I'm saying, but I bet someone would love to play with Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki. You could get a decent name that could help you back into the playoffs, especially getting a good pick could get you Wright, Cooley, ect. It wouldn't be too hard to bring players in.

Wirght and Cooley are rookies with a max entry level contract of $925K for first 3 years. If Hughes manages to sign either Letang or Bergeron as UFAs fetching a contract of $8M each, then I could see a potential issue. But those signings are only pipe dreams!!! LOL

Let's not forget Hughes is still trying to find a deal for Petry who will be much easier to move in the off-season. Potentially some of Savard, Hoffman, Armia, Byron, Gallagher or Drouin could be gone as well. I really don't see us ending up in cap trouble for at least 3-4 years.

I think it would depend on how everything shakes out in the summer. In a vacuum, that likely works, but if other players are moved to fill other needs, the Jets may end up needing DeMelo.
