Depends entirely on how he performs when he returns. If he's anything close to how he played last season you could probably get a lot. If he plays like he did earlier this season? The Leafs would have to pay to move that contract.

People will say nothing as if he wasn’t widely considered a top 20 NHL d man among the hockey community prior to this year. He’s struggled in the time he’s played but he’s played a ton of time with Holl this year and the two have brought each other down, and have both been better when apart. Healthy Muzzin is at worst a good #3 d man if he can’t return to his level of play from prior to this season. I’d imagine the return is at least a 1st, especially considering Holland paid a 3rd + solid young d man (equivalent to Dermott more or less) for an older d man on pretty much the same contract who is much, much, much worse (and both have “intangibles” and experience as well)

I agree with the part on if he plays good he’s worth a lot, but I think even if he struggles a bit for the rest of the season he will still have value. GMs will heavily value his experience and “intangibles”, not to mention the fact that he was really really good prior to this year. I could easily see a team like Edmonton paying quite a good bit for him

He would be expensive without question just his experience & play over the years prior makes him a 1st +

Leafs fans better get off this silly scenario that Muzzin is gone this off season. He has a full NTC and certainly won't be going to bad team with cap. He is from the Toronto area, the Leafs are a good team so he isn't leaving unless it's to lets say Tampa (yea that is happening)

IMO Muzzin has been the Leafs worse Dman this season, He and his 5.6m X 2 cap is untradeable, due to his play/his contract and his NTC

I mean maybe (the Sens just paid a 3rd for Hamonic) but 5.6 AAV is enough to scare away most GMs given his decline

Ok now let’s ask how the oilers can afford to take him on? Bad idea for Edmonton.

So many Leaf fans think they trade cap and in Muzzin's bad cap, to teams and not take any cap back in return.....That's delusional, never mind Muzzin's NTC and poor play

If Muzz returns & plays to his worth i guarantee some teams will be interested & as well if the Leafs can Gio on a cheap contract for another year or two it works out very well

Muzzin was worth a 1st. This year got himself injured 2 or 3 times. 1 time is because he didn't play his position. He normally leaves the other defenseman by himself to defend a 2 on 1 breakaway. He's worth a 3rd round pick maybe 2nd. This is the only year he is playing bad so.

I agree I don't see him moving. Also, his concussion history is a huge red flag for any teams looking into him. I really hope he recovers and can be an effective shut down dman for the Leafs again but two concussions in the same season isn't screaming durability that's for sure.

The killer to his value beyond this years sub par play is that he can definitively be called injury prone. He has also lost the youthful advantage of playing without fear/hesitation. I would wager he gets hurt yet again this season and either we have to pay to move the contract or he goes to robidas island.

I agree that he won't be traded and that the NTC is the biggest barrier, but to say he is untradable is a stretch. He considered a top 25 D-man last season and there would 100% be GM's who value his veteran status whether that means anything or not.

Keith makes 5.25, I don’t think that cap will necessarily scare GMs away

I mean that should be a cautionary tale right there
