And with the Edmonton trade I factored in a few things, first Blackwood at 2.8 and healthy is a big upgrade from what they had. He had a lot going on this past year and a half off the ice. Also Zacha can slot right at LW2 LW3 or 3C at most likely a very solid AAV. Then you have Bahl who is similar to kulak eventually, huge LHD and is going to be more of an anchor guy. If all would go well in the trade that’s a starter, middle 6 guy at team friendly AAV and your third pair cheap LHD that’s pretty much going to be done with the AHL. And for Holloway, his AHL season hasn’t been anything to really right home about and he’s not going to help them win next year. Also taking 5 million in Smith and Forgele makes Zacha and Blackwood probably wash and that’s two upgrades

I think they’ll move both of them though. The tandem they have is set and their main issue os moving cap now whether it’s Monahan or Lucic. Maybe they get draft capital back I was gonna say a 2nd if he played 25 games next year in the NHL

Nah. Wolf is the best goalie prospect we have had in years. Definitely not available. I think he needs 1 more year then Vladars contract is up so we would trade him and have Wilf as our backup.

We have Daws and Schmidt who are pretty much the same boat as Wolf.

Daws and Schmidt are as good as Wolf as prospects... You just can't count on goaltenders to jump from the AHL to NHL starters, especially when they're 21.

That tandem is horrifically risky to go into next season with.

What do we get in Edmonton trade? A prospect who hasn’t played and a dinosaur goalie?

No they definitely wont, Vladar is a decent cheap backup but Wolf is on a whole different level. He's panning out to be a starter and one of the best in the league. Moving Monahan wont cost anything, he likely returns a small but still positive value.

While I think Daws and Schmidt are decent prospects, they are definitely a tier below Wolf

I'll always choose the bigger goaltender personally, but that's fine if you think that. Point is that Devils don't need goaltending prospects, even Malek looks solid. They need a starter.
