Sharks easily decline. Glass is a bust big time, rather have the other solid players

Glass was a bust with VGK and now with NSH + Kunin is worse than Balcers. Sharks easy decline that

Eeli Tolvanen is a youngster with a bright future. He's having as good a year as rookie Arthur Kaliyev, who's two years younger, but Tolvanen wouldn't play ahead of Alex Iafallo, Adrian Kempe or Trevor Moore, so we don't really have a need for him. And if we WERE going to trade for him, it wouldn't be our #2 RD that we'd be sending.

Oddly, that't the one I see NSH having the most interest in. Maybe the Boeser proposal, but I don't see NSH being eager to move Fabbro, with the way Myers hasn't worked out and a lack of NHL ready RD prospects.

The SJS and OTT proposals are big downgrades for NSH. Selling low on Tolvanen like that doesn't happen if Fabbro doesn't get moved, and NSH isn't desperate for a replacement.

Then you underrate Balcers whom I think is better than Kunin. He's faster, plays PK, plays up and down the lineup. No point in SJ moving him unless it's a clear upgrade. Reimer alone is going to get a 2nd plus. Nieto can be had but I'm guessing he was a toss-in here. This is a terrible deal for SJ, plain and simple as Glass was a bust in Vegas, went to Nash for a change of scenery and is still a bust. Would be a major downgrade for SJ and it's simply not realistic. We easily decline.

Thanks for providing a Sharks focused take on the proposal. Here's why I don't like it for NSH:

I like Balcers, but don't see him as a great fit for the Preds under Hynes. He lacks size and physicality, and I see him being a target on the ice in NSH. The Preds are the most physical team in the NHL, and since opponents can't easily step up to guys like Jeannot and Trenin, they'll likely focus their hits and rough stuff on Balcers, like they currently do with Carrier.

NSH has Ingram ready to be the backup next season, so they don't have a spot for Reimer. He'd just be an unnecessary cap hit to them.

Nieto is fine as a throw in depth piece, but like Balcers he's not big or physical. He doesn't have much value to the Preds.

The player here that NSH would place the highest value on is oddly enough the one the Sharks fans here are screaming is a bust. NSH deciding to keep Glass in the AHL all season isn't because they view him as a failure, but rather because they see a lot of potential there, and want to develop him properly. He's excelled with the Ads, and is still looked at as a significant part of NSH's future. Like the Sharks, NSH doesn't have the greatest prospect depth down the middle either. Aside from Glass and Svechkov (and Pärssinen, but he might easily wind up on the wing) there isn't much else for center prospects. They'd be loathe to move Glass, and none of the players coming from SJS here are incentive enough. They just don't fill any glaring needs the Preds have.
