You're saying it doesn't make sense for a team to trade 2 or 3 good young prospects plus 2, 1st round picks for getting Kane for 1 season? But he is so good, and they will retain 50% of his salary and you get him for all of 82 games (assuming he doesn't get hurt) plus one playoff run, assuming the team makes it. If that's not reason to trade away a franchises future, I don't know what is.

I was referring to the other Kane but I wouldn't trade for 1 year of that Kane either.

Kane is running hot right now, no doubt. But he has years of great hockey to judge him by, no reason to judge him solely on his 24 games as an Oiler.

And as much as I like Giroux, I think it's clear the that McDavid does best with power forwards - Lucic before the cliff, Maroon, and now Kane - and I'm not sure Giroux will necessarily be a better fit.

I'd be happy with either guy TBH, but I totally understand why ppl are re-upping Kane.
