I agree they should keep Chychrun because they will just be looking to replace him with what they get for him

I’d say they should look for 2023 1st rounders instead of 2022

Vegas should be coughing up a first rounder not a third.

Ready to compete soon? On what planet/in what league?

Why does it cost a 3rd round pick to unload Dadonov but a 1st round pick to unload Zucker?

the pens can just trade pettersson or dumolin for a pick instead of this

the Oilers don't need to give up a 1st Lavoie and Foegele just to dump Kassian

Now that Knies is starting to really show his talent, Leafs could be okay with Trading Robertson, but I think they could move Mrazek for a 2nd and a B prospect. Might not be an A prospect or a 1st. Depends on his play to finish the season. Has been decent lately, beat the Panthers last night.

Even if the returns for taking on these contracts is only a second (presumably in 2023 or 2024) instead of a first, this is a sensible strategy for the Coyotes. But I agree with @pensburgh571 that Dadonov and Zucker get you seconds, and with @oilersguy that Edmonton only has to send you a second, if that.

Roberston isn't an A prospect at this point

difference is kassian is locked up for an extra year and is on a much worse contract. Plus they would want to get rid of foegle as well

look at dadonovs recent play, he's showing he can play, Vegas just doesn't have the cap for him. Zucker on the other hand has been horrible in Pittsburg, not to mention his injuries

keller and Chychrun are stars. Schmaltz is a very good second line center or a meh first line center. They also have young centres Mcbain and Hayton who are promising, Lawson Crouse with 20 goals already this year and propects in the pipeline. They also have many picks in the near future

Maybe not to other GM's, but that is likely how the leafs value him. He has been derailed by some unfortunate injuries so they likely think the potential is still there.

I don't see why you believe that Kassian "is on a much worse contract" that Dadonov or Zucker. A $3.2 million cap hit is a lot easier to absorb than a 5 or 5.5 million dollar smack, and Kassian's actual cost of $5.8 million over two years is not much more than Zucker's total compensation of $5.2 million and less than Dadonov's $6.5 million (!) by a similar amount.

Teams generally don't trade for a player and then give up on him after only one year, because that's usually an insufficient time for the new guy to become accustomed to his new surroundings. Guys that fit right in like Phillip Danault or Viktor Arvidsson are the exception, not the rule.

Firstly, Vegas already tried trading dadonov, they need the cap. Pitsburg also needs the cap. The money doesn't matter to Arizona, they can take on a 9 mill contract, what's more important is what it does for the other team. in Edmontons case, they could really use the 3.2 mill locked up in kassian or 6 mill including foegle to for example, sign flip Forsberg who would complement mcdavid. So its more what Edmonton would be willing to trade

the pens have POJ ready so they're both expendable plus it creates cap space

Just because Edmonton "might want to trade Foegele" (I don't believe they do) doesn't give him negative value.

Ya, they’re not capable of even sniffing a competitive season for at least five years.

Chychrun is a star. He’s awesome. Keller is okay. Personally i wouldn’t want him with that contract on my team, but i’m sure he’ll be able to freelance for points on a cellar dweller and get a nice return in 3-4 years.

I'm gonna bet that this is the worst misjudgment you ever make on CapFriendly. The Coyotes are in such deep financial trouble that the state tax authorities had to threaten to shut the team down in order to get paid, the team is playing in a 6,000-capacity arena for the foreseeable future, and management is strongly considering moving them out of Arizona or filing for bankruptcy. Of all of the teams in the league, Arizona is the least able to take on a $9 million contract and is the team to whom money matters the most, by a substantial margin.
