Both Gaudreau and Tkachuk get $9,500,000 x 8 years. Don't see either taking less from Calgary Gaudreau on the open market easily gets $10,000,000 Gaudreau is on pace for a career year.

Hey Wqrrior, good to see you! I don't like the Ras for Dube trade. Dube is a year older than Ras, makes more money, is worse on the FO, plays less TOI, and has about the same pts/GP even though his deployment is way more biased toward offensive zone starts. This is a pretty hard pass for Detroit.

I think the saving grace for Calgary is that they can offer the extra year which means they won't necessarily have to give Gaudreau $10m. $10m on the open market is equivalent to $8.75m when you go for the total contract. With that said, they will probably both be over $9m like you suggested.
