My thought is Necas gets somewhere close to an 8x$6M. A little less, probably, because of his down year. I think $1.5M AAV less than Svechnikov is fair for Necas.

I actually think that he's a likelier re-sign than Nino or Trocheck. He's the most likely to take a 2 year bridge because he's only 27 and could parlay a good showing into a true windfall at age 29.

Why need Murray when you could just use Smith, promote Seeley, etc? Jarvis cannot play LW either, swap him and Teuvo.

I just like Teuvo better at RW for some reason. Jarvis is, at least potentially, going to very much be plug-and-play in terms of versatility.

Jarvis can't play LW. We've seen him at LW and it didn't work. They messed around with him Trocheck and Necas on the same line and it was awful. Teuvo's stronger on the right, sure. But Jarvis' strength + Teuvo's weakness >> Jarvis' weakness + Teuvo's Strength if that makes sense. We've seen recently Teuvo playing LW and Jarvy RW and they're both deadly. Seth Jarvis in the last 7 days has been the Canes best performing skater.

Maybe. The Canes have been pretty successful at getting their RFAs to extend long-term ever since they began to show signs of being a contender, not dissimilar to Tampa or Boston. Players are more likely to commit long-term if the team is good.

I don't see us re-signing Stepan and definitely not at that AAV. Stepan could be a league minimum back-up option to Drury or a speedier 4th line C. IMO he has been in the pressbox for a majority of the season due to his lack of speed. Lorentz gets $1M max. Necas on a bridge deal seems more fair to all parties with his uneven play this season. I say $5M max using Teravainen as a comp. I'm fine with the Ryan Murray signing as long as he is quicker than Cole. We do not have an heir apparent 3LD in Chicago at the moment. Finally with the savings from not signing Stepan, lowering Lorentz and Necas' AAV's use the extra $$ to sign Nichushkin, rather than Domi, to take Nino's place.
