1- By your logic, every trade in the history of trades in all sports since the dawn of sports teams trading has been exact real value. Not one uneven trade, not one fleecing, not one overpay, ever. Now are you really gonna die on that hill? THAT is stubborn.
2- I saw multiple articles with multiple NHL execs saying flat out that Chiarot is not worth a 1st (but they added he'll probably get one because deadline nuttiness), mostly at The Athletic IIRC. Again, this is about as far from a hot take as one can get.
My point is 99% of the non-Habs fans were laughing at Habs fans for saying we were gonna get a 1st+ for Chiarot. They were all wrong, and now they're all MIA. If you're not one of them, good for you.
If you could link any of those many articles, i'd love that, because i'm a huge The Athletic reader and never saw any of them. As i said, i saw many articles saying they wouldn't trade their 1st for a rental, but never was Chiarot's name mentionned.
Also, here's the definition of the word 'worth' : The value of something measured by its qualities or by the esteem in which it is held. Esteem is the key word there. I know no one would pay a 2023 unprotected 1st for Chiarot under 3 years contract. He's a playoff beast, we knew what he's worth in the playoffs, and nobody seemed to know it here except Habs fans. With him in your lineup, nobody approach your goalie without getting hurt.
Can't wait to see FLO win the cup, with Chiarot playing 20+ minutes, but everyone gonna pretend he was useless to winning the cup. He's a big factor in why we got far last year.
Habs haters gonna hate i guess...
