Sabres definitely decline. It will take much more to get Tage, if he we're every actually available, which he isn't.

Lets not overvalue thompson too much based off one season.

But why would the Sabres move him after a good season? He's young, on a great contract, and controllable. If a team really wants him they would have to significantly overpay for the Sabres to even consider it.

People are telling me that Thompson is worth Tolvanen, a 1rst and a 2nd? That’s way too much. I understand that his value in Buffalo is more than his trade value, but I wouldn’t even give up Tolvanen and a 1rst for him.

This is a SIGNIFICANT overpay.

It’s not over valuing as much as he fits buffalo’s timeline to also be competitive. This move hurts in the short for Buffalo, and sends a message to players like Dahlin they don’t think they can compete in 2/3 years. Dahlin then asks for a trade. Same with Tuch (maybe). Then there’s no insulation for Power. Can’t build a team with nothing but teenagers, and Tage is moving into the vet role, and a good one at that (one that they invested heavily in acquiring and developing)

For a player on a $1.4 mil contract on pace to score 35+ goals this season, this is not an overpayment. Look at what the lightning gave up for Hagel who has fewer goals, makes more, and doesn't play center.

Both teams decline the Thompson trade.

Not a fan of all those meh UFA player signings.

LOL, the first two comments that Thompson will not be traded are not from Sabre ACGM's.
I think that speaks volumes of how Sabre fans will think.

While this year may appear to be a breakout, he has been playing well for the last three.
Krueger made everyone look bad, Granato does the opposite.
Easy no from the Sabres.

I think Girgensons is the player undervalued here.
I would not trade him one for one for Tolvanen.
Girgensons PK and DZ% is much higher than Tolvanen.
Eakin and Caggiula center for Girgensons while Duchene, Granlund and Johansson center for Tolvanen
Yet, Zemgus has 2 more goals over the past two year than Eeli.
So to answer your question a first, second and third are not nearly enough for 30 goal scorer earning $1,400,000 ($50,000 less than Eeli) Tage Thompson.
Only 23 NHL forwards have more goals than he.
So YES, this is a severe underpayment for Tage Thompson.

Or maybe let's not give him away for poop. The trade is offensive.

30 goals with how many games left...making 1.4 mil. Watch other teams besides Nashville
