Description
ASSUME FIALA IS EXTENDED.

I know all of these are not equal in value. Just chumming the waters and making calls.

Not particularly attached to any of these, so looking for tweaks and suggestions to make them more agreeable.

Pretty fair trade with buffalo, I just don't see them making that type of move atm.

They need a goalie, and a top 4 rhd, followed by a top 6 center before they move on a winger

mehh I doubt isles would trade what it seems to be the steal of the last draft + a pick that could be really high

Have they explicitly said as much? Or is that just your inference due to him being a highly regarded prospect?

I don't see them trading him for Fiala. Why pay Fiala $6-7M when we can develop a young kid with great potential? He's going to be a great piece and we are looking for RHD and G more.

      Skinner - Thompson - Tuch
      Krebs - Cozens - Quinn
      Olofsson - Mittelstadt - Peterka
      Asplund - Girgensons - Okposo

Makes sense, I agree with that philosophy.

And if I recall correctly from other Sabres fans, the RHD needs to be mid career, big and a stay home type of player?

I’ve explored the idea of a prospect swap where MN sends Addison to BUF, but received pushback citing the above criteria as being necessary

Addison would be a nice add but I feel we need someone with more experience like John Marino for example.

I would offer someone like Portillo for Addison though.

Yeah which obviously MN wouldn’t do. So likely not a fit, unless Adams has a different view on things

Why wouldn't they? Portillo is a really good G prospect who is blocked by Devon Levi.

Grieg is not for sale. Ottawa rarely drafts players under 6 foot but they made an exception for Grieg:
A: Cause he is the son of a former NHLer.
B: Because he is a gritty get in you're face guy that leads the WHL in penalty minutes and is very tenacious
      and
C; Because he is extremely skilled. Like did you see the move he pulled off on Hellybuyck during the preseason. He'll be a great player.
I think it would be one of the D or Jarventie that would go over in a Kevin Fiala trade for Ottawa but I still believe that they should go a different route.

Using the Reinhart and Buchnevich trades as a template.

Grabbed Wallstedt in the last draft and plan is to have him come to NA next year. It would create the same exact issue you’re dealing with on Levi.

Idk I just can't imagine Ottawa moving Ridly Greig. He's got so much skill and he's basically the embodiment of what they want the team identify to be. If Ottawa's moving a 1st this year or next, I don't see them moving one of their top prospects as well. As good as he is I'm unconvinced that Fiala commands that kind of return.

Yeah everyone recycles that same answer about Reinhart and Buch, and I just don’t agree with it. What Adams accepts for his guy is not a model for what Guerin will accept. And Buch was a known fleece at the time. I know the argument, but I’d bet anyone on this site that Guerin does better than that.

As for Greig being avail, maybe he is maybe he isn’t. At this point, we know the Sens are interested in Fiala. What your threshold is does not represent what theirs is.

Yeah we just don’t know, though. Like I get it, Greigs valued and he’s a good player. Maybe there’s no chance OTT parts with him for Fiala. But nobody here knows and it’s in the realm of possibility

Grieg is not available, it would at least be stupid to trade him cause they went out of their way to draft him and he is very close to an NHL job that could replace Fiala. I think you're right about Guerin but I also think that the other GM's will look at the market of FA and the market that Reinhart who was an almost identical player to Fiala but also a center which makes him more valuable was traded for. It will probably be in the middle ground so early 2nd + good prospect + a little bit more.

Agreed, I mean he got a second for McBain to but that was to an Arizona team that had the capital. I don't know how he will get out of this but I would actually consider moving Zuccerelo cause he will age and that contract will hurt a lot and if you sign Fiala and him and Boldy light it up then you've got yourself a good second line.

I also wouldn't put it past Carolina to offersheet Fiala.

Lol Greig is not close to replacing Fiala. How about he plays an NHL game before you suggest he can step in for a 75 point player. Talk about a homer take.

Lol Greig is not close to replacing Fiala. How about he plays an NHL game before you suggest he can step in for a 75 point player. Talk about a homer take.

K, he may not replace Fiala but he is close to NHL action and when he is seasoned a bit more he could replace a role that Fiala plays. I also don't like Fiala's defense which is why I would rather go out and get a FA to fill the need. Particularily Burakovsky or Giroux.

Carolina doesn’t have the money to OS Fiala. They’re pretty set.

And no we’re not moving Zucc. His value is higher to us than we could get in trade. He’s scoring at a 95 point pace, but nobody is gonna pay like that, because of his age and contract.
