missed the hart conversation earlier but the only person i'd be disappointed to see win the hart would be huberdeau

mcdavid, matthews, draisaitl and shesterkin all have valid cases. huberdeau's just been racking up secondary assists on the powerplay on the highest scoring team in the league and the only reason he's being considered is because his agent publicly whined about some analytics

And people actually thought Vancouver won...

Like they could have kept their 1st and had cap space in 2023...

Nobody would have been mad if Benning stuck to his 2 year retool like he preached then backtracked on 2 months later lul

I honestly think Gaudreau deserves way more Hart love than either Oilers player, he’s been the clear best player on one of the best teams in the league, top 4 in points, anchoring arguably the best line in the league, and is actually good at both ends of the rink. Huberdeau is great, but I agree he doesn’t deserve to be in nomination consideration for the Hart. I’d probably go Matthews then Shesterkin then Gaudreau if votes were today.

edit: and Gaudreau is doing at even strength and with primary points too, he leads the league with 59 5v5 points, only 6 of which are secondary assists (only one player in the top 30 has fewer secondary assists). Second place is a tie at 53 points, so if you only put Gaudreau’s primary 5v5 points against everyone else’s total 5v5 points he’d still be tied for 1st lol

So, umm.

44, 46, 51, 42, 46.

That is the amount of shots Jake Allen has faced in his last five games. Granted it's been against good teams (BOS, TOR, CAR and FLA twice). Montembeault played against NJ when they let past "only" 32 shots.

So basically Jake Allen has made 209 saves in last five games in total, with 20 goals against. He's done admirably well.

What is not doing admirably well is Habs defense. They're absolutely ghastly.

They seriously need to do something to that D core, because that is not sustainable by any means.

Hes both great and affecting the tank.

I wonder do they trade or keep him for 2022-2023

Anyone else surprised by the fact that Huberdeau's 71 assists is the most any LW has ever produced in NHL history in one season?

I mean Kucherov netted 87 assists just a couple of years ago.

Left wing right wing it al kinda blends together. Most wingers can play both sides anyway

Man I always wonder

What if a team could have got Tkachuck-Dvorak-Marner to play together like they did for the Knights

Might have been one of if not the best line in the NHL

Funny thing is that they all ended up playing in Canadian teams.

Just wondering, with how joel edmundson has progressed over his time in MTL, habs can get a really good offer for him.
To trade him, I think the minimum is 1st + 2nd, but I, personally would want 1st + 1st round caliber prospect .

And who pays that? At best we’re looking at a Chiarot type return for Edmundson. 2nd pair D’s don’t return that much, that’s closer to what Hampus Lindholm got and he’s a top pair defenceman

Perhaps not coincidentally, Petry left the first of those games with an injury.
Schueneman, Wideman, Barron, Savard, featuring a Lagesson cameo, is pretty weak defensively. The quality of competition certainly isn't helpful.

@csick lindholm has played very well with mcavoy, seemed he and carlo had some struggles communication wise vs the leafs. ide expect come playoff time the top 4 dlines will be lindholm - mcavoy grz- carlo. bottom 2 should be reilly forbort but who the heck knows what that pair ends up as. if bruins get quality play from haula and debrusk this team is actually pretty solid. injuries will kill their depth though. they dont have many guys they can shift upwards, if anyone in their top 6/top4 dcorp gets hurt other than maybe grz they are going to be a playoff bounce.

Honestly that core sounds absolutely awful.

MTL has truly faced enough injuries this year.

Someone could say that there's a difference between being built of depth and being built into depths of hell, but someone forgot to tell that to Ducharme.
