Buffalo GM said he wants to add RHD vets to play with Dahlin and Power.

Buffalo is a 1 hour flight from Detroit.

Montreal don't retain or take any contract back.

Probably not at that price, MTL has so little leverage and Petry is on the wrong side of 30.

Montreal isn't going to take less than a mid 1st + 3rd (or equal prospects) + cap offset.

How much term and money still on petry? Buffalo probably going to need to trade for the veteran options for at least another season, before they start jumping the line for there young contender status. Kind of like the petry add, as long as the term isn’t more than 3 years, could Buffalo just buy the likes of a gudas or gudbranson types and not let anyone mess with there kids or have to fight there own battles?

Petry has 3 more years at 6.25M. And you're right about adding another RHD, more physical type to protect the young. They need 2 anyway.

He can continue to rot in MTL then. Nobody is moving a first for him. You might have gotten 25x Chiarots value, but last year was your chance to get this return for Petry.

Ya I don’t mind the buy of petry, i maybe reaching but this squad has the looks of a late 08 or 09 hawks, adding Campbell needed and a lot of development of cozens and krebs. But interesting times ahead for sure

I'd rather have a 40th overall and not retain salary or get a cap dump back, than have a 22th and a 86th.

Faksa has 3 more years at 3.25M. That's like retaining 50% on Petry.

If you think a 40th overall is a first, you're in the wrong forum my friend. Have a nice day.

Exactly what I'm hoping Adams does, goes out and signs Gudbranson as his 3rd pairing RHD to protect his young guys and maybe try and sign Manson to pair with Power.

Somebody needs to teach dahlin to not turn his back after a confrontation of any sort, I cringed when he got in that battle with Mathews. Love the spirit and fight in him, but needs somebody large to keep him from needing too, and possibly not to turn his back and protect himself from the retaliation. Nice squad coming fast.

You are right and what scares me is I don't think Adams or maybe the Pegulas want a tougher team. This one for all, all for one thing will end fast once somebody just drops their gloves and pounds one of our young guys. It's nice to see Cozens drop the gloves here and there but it's not something that he should be doing.

Such a copy cat league, tb has a ton of skill, but they never truly got going til they got the lunch pail grinders. Buffalo starting to piece it together, but the majority going forward needs to be 6’2 plus and play heavy.

Yepp, look at TB's defense all over 6' and 200lbs, that's why I'd like to see us sign Manson and Gudbranson both are big and have some grit add that to Samuelsson and Power and the size of our D is comparable.

Tampas lunch pail grinders as you put it could finish though, Gourde and Coleman have more skill and ability than just grinding, they won back to back cups with Tyler Johnson and Maroon on their 4th line, while Maroon is physical and can grind he's always had some offense to his game, point is not any old grinder will do if the goal is to actually contend.

Ya, no. If the habs are SUPER lucky, they’ll get someone to take him on for a mid round pick. Maybe a fourth.

All non-Habs fans on here must really love eating crow, since just about everyone said Chiarot wouldn't get a 1st cause he sucks, toffoli won't get a great package, he would only return a 2nd, Lehkonen isn't worth a 1st and now Petry won't get more than a 4th (retained). I can't wait to see if he does get traded cause you all are going to eat crow again if he does. The problem with you guys who say these things is you think like fans not like GM's. GM's look at a player's entire career and especially the last 3 or 4 years to assess if the player brings anything that they like to their lineup. Fans just look at the current year and their own biases to determine if they like the guy enough to agree to a trade. You say Petry sucks (probably cause you are tired of seeing all the Petry trades) but reality is he is just as good this season as he was last year, he didn't forget how to skate, shoot or pass he was just dealing with ineptitude in the organization and family/life issues away from the rink.

Blah, blah, blah
U guys got LESS for Chiarot AND also got LESS for Lehkonen than u thought u would
Keep rooting your horn though
Petry might get u an ok return, but it will NOT be from Buffalo
You’re gonna have to come to terms with it dude

No actually if you look at the Habs ACGM's only a small select group of users over valued those players. Most had Chiarot at Savard return or a 1st + 3rd (which was slightly undervalued) and Lehkonen at a 1st + good prospect (or 2nd) (Coleman and Goodrow returns) again this was undervalued.

Also this is NOT MY ACGM, all I said was he would stay in Montreal if we didn't get a 1st + 3rd. My ONLY argument has been with those who said Petry "sucks" which is simply not true, he had a hard start to the season under a horrible coach, made worse by having to send his family back to the states, then contracting Covid and dealing with injuries and his father's passing in the offseason. Show me one person on the planet who can just breeze through life under even half those circumstances and I will show you a bold faced liar. No matter who you are those circumstances affect you and every aspect of your life especially when it is all in the public eye.

Well it’s easier to say “Petry sucks” than to type out a breakdown of all the reasons he’s the incorrect fit for Buffalo

We aren’t gonna trade for him unless it’s a last resort type deal
