Description
Tried to do a mix of realism while doing moves I would have interest in. Here are some explanations into the trades

Mittelstadt deal: Someone is gonna be the odd man out with Quinn coming up. Don’t care what the return is just get a pick and you’re fine

Murphy deal: Sabres have been looking for Powers future partner all year, and seem to have a ton of interest in Murphy who played a year under granato a few years ago. With the current market I can’t really tell if he’d cost a 1st or a 3rd, who knows. Regardless I’d have interest in that.

Driedger deal: after a brutal year with Seattle he looks to bounce back somewhere else. Buffalo take on the risk of the contract while hoping he bounces back, he’s a goalie so it’s a very real possibility. They also get back Borgen who they loved but couldn’t keep because of expansion problems. Again if it cost more or less it’s whatever, I think the idea of the deal makes sense for both sides.

Quick deal: okay this one might be a bit ambitious, while quick has been serviceable for them, he carries a 5.8m cap hit the next season and LAK might want to use that to lock up some RFAs or sign a big fish. Again, 2nd round pick could be too much as a return to take it on. Hell I’d go as far to say I’d pay like a 7th to get him. A veteran goalie is kind of the point of this deal assuming Anderson retires.

I think the general construction of this roster puts them in a very good spot. Nichushkin signing would be huge, he would be such a good defensive presence for the younger guys while also being a beast offensively. There aren’t many of him in the league and I think at that price point would be quite good.

    Additional Details:
NOT A TRADE: Just putting this here to say who I would select with our two first rounders

Pick 1 I’d go with Jonathan Lekkerimakki in the 7-10 range. Love his play style. Reminds me of Quinn, I think he has real nice upside as a dual threat goal scorer.

Pick 2: assuming it’s around 15-20 I would love to snag Mateychuk. I think he’s a top 5 player in the class and he’s gonna fall hard. I get it, he’s “small”. But the two best dman in the league Fox and Makar are the same height . ALSO HE CAN PLAY RIGHT SIDE

Steal for Chicago as a hawks fan a 1st for Murphy even if it becomes 32nd pick is good

No reason to sell mitts for peanuts.

Yeah I am not giving a 1st for Murphy, Philadelphia's 2nd and Laaksonen is more like it.

It's more likely that you trade us Jack Quinn for our 2023 third than that we trade you Jonathan Quick for future considerations, never mind the 2023 second.

That's easily one of the five most badly valued trades I've ever seen on CapFriendly.

Not really feeling that Chicago trade, but if the prospect is good that could change my mind. Lots of people are saying that Murphy isn’t worth a first, but looking at what Chiarot got and considering Murphys more than reasonable contract I think he worth a first easily.

“Selling low” like that on Mitts is horrendous

And LA is very unlikely to move Quick in a deal like that

What is the Mitts trade? Do you watch games at all? He looks good.

Why should we trade him at all? He is quite smart and still a young center, we should not trade him just because he had an injury this season. I've been watching since he plays under Granato, and he was good at the end of last season and now he looks good too.

0.909, 2.66 GAA, and $2.5 million next year. And he has almost as many wins (17) as your two goalies combined. So I wouldn't sneer at a guy you won't get a sniff at, because he'll end his career the way he started.
