Wild are just not going to sign Johansson and get the 2nd round compensatory pick. Don't know how Lassi's development has gone but i expect this is to much for Fiala.

I like where your head’s at on drafting Marco Kasper.

Wasn’t aware of the possibility to get a compensation, but that is better than Tufte. Btw, what is the compensation based on?

Yeah, I know it may be a bit heavy. Maybe a mid round pick instead of Thomson?

Basically if you draft a guy in the first round and don't or can't sign him you get a second round pick. I'm sure it's a later 2nd rounder but Johansson doesn't bloom like a NHLer right now.

Fiala is going to get much less than Wild fans think on here.

If you're using this ACGM as a baseline then you're right. I think most of us think he will return a high end prospect and a high 1st, say around #10 over all.

I don't even think he's getting that. RFA that needs a big contract. I'm guessing late / lottery protected 1st + ok prospect.

That wouldn't completely disappoint me but I'd be a little disappointed.

For failing to sign a first round pick after making a bona fide contract offer, the drafting team gets a 2nd round pick in the next draft at the same position the player was originally drafted. Since Johansson was picked 24th, the Wild would get the 24th pick of the 2nd round, which is the 56th pick.
