You’ll have to pay to get rid of that contract big fella

Also I’ll go ahead and offer Marchment a 5 x $3,875,000 and see what he is feeling

Hornqvist isn’t a cap dump though. He still is almost at 40 points a season for his role and if a team like Anaheim gives a third for him then trades him to a contender for 50% retrained you’ll probably get a second.

With the California taxes, he probably ends up with more money making 2M a year in Florida than 3.875M in California.

If your getting rid of him to make room in your cap, he is a cap dump. Player skill may be decent now but at this age it will only deteriorate. Your dealing from a position of weakness seeing how everyone knows why you are making this trade. Look at the Dadonov trade that didn’t happen. Dado is still an upgrade on the Anaheim roster but the need to make room forced Vegas to pay that second rounder.

That’s fair. I think he would end up making around 300k more in Florida but would be bet on himself or the 2 year deal or take the 5 year

Difference between Vegas and Fla is theyre actually in a cap crunch panthers could stay with the same roster minus chariot and a marchment raise and not have to give anything for hornqvist

Right so FLA keeps him then. I’m just saying, no one will come knocking at the Panthers door to get a declining 5 mill dollar player. In the end, if Florida wants to “keep the band together”, they will have to pay to get rid of the obvious player. If not, they keep him and the pick but Marchment and Chiarot walk. They gotta decide what’s better for the now, since it is evident they are all in for the next few years.

Having said that, Hammonic got a third recently, so you may find that GM out there. History just shows Ducks GM Pat Verbeek isn’t that type of GM.

And I doubt he waves for Anaheim unless they’re the team taking 50% of his salary to go to a contender. But it won’t be a problem getting rid of him without giving up a high pick. If anything it will be a late pick like a 5th and a 4th coming back

They can’t keep the same roster they have roughly $5.5M in cap space with only 15 current players signed for next season.

Just use the income tax calculator on Capfriendly. Florida would have to offer Marchment at least a $3.1m contract to end up with more take-home pay than a $3.875m contract in Anaheim
