Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 3, 2022
Published: Apr. 3, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With Ennis done for the season, it's extremely important that Ottawa calls somebody up to replace him so we don't need to watch Chris Tierney ever again.

The two obvious choices would be Parker Kelly or Mark Kastelic. Both have seen NHL action this year and have looked pretty solid, though I think the team wants both in Belleville to be a part of their run to the playoffs.

The guy I'd like to see get a look would be Zach Senyshyn. The local kid thing is always fun down the stretch, and it would be worth seeing if this is a guy who can give you NHL games.

Also, as a separate point, man oh man Mathieu Joseph absolutely rules. Dude works his ass off every second he's on the ice. Dude has full ownership of the Red Wings at this point.

I hope Seny does well in OTT. He was **** on a lot in Boston for things he had no control over. With that said if he gets a look it'll only be for 4 games at most. If he hits 5gp this year then the 7th becomes a 6th. Not a huge deal, but don't see OTT wanting to up a pick for an extended look at Senyshyn.

He just isn’t an NHL talent.

Still well worth a look imo. I think he has some amount of upside as a 4th liner, and with him as an RFA you'll get a better sense of whether he's worth extending if you see him in the NHL. Certainly won't find a player more motivated to do well than a local kid getting an NHL opportunity in the home town barn.

I think this is probably true, but that's why it's worth confirming now vs next year. Plus calling him up hurts Belleville less than a guy like Kastelic who plays C all situations for them.

Sure, but its not like he didn’t get a shot in boston.

Would be preferable to have him with better (offensive) players than Watson and Gambrell but it's still better than nothing so let's see

Sure, and it's a point I've argued for years with the millions of Bruins fan Senyshyn to Ottawa posts. Really only needs to be good enough to keep Tierney out of the lineup, which is all I really want.

What hes shown isn’t good enough to do that.

He’s not an NHL caliber player.

Have you watched Chris Tierney play? If he's got a pulse I'll bet on him clearing that bar

He'll be a *ufa but nonetheless I see him wanting to re-sign with his hometown team. That wasn't going to happen with BOS hence the reason he was included in the Brown trade. Hope he does well regardless

Believe he'll be a group 6 UFA.
