My radical approach to get Leafs cap

Description
IMO it's going to real expensive to get rid of Mrzarek's 3.8m two year deal. Nylander's 7m contract is front loaded so actual $$ isn't that high for Arizona Leafs use the new found cap to upgrade their goalie, and sign their RFAs and three of their own UFAs.

Why not trade a pick to dump Mrazek and then move Nylander in a separate trade? Moving them both together limits the return cause not many teams can take on that much cap. Nylander alone would be able to get a pretty big haul and the net return from those 2 trades would be a lot more than a 2nd round pick

Or hey just buy Mrazek out lul

    Its not that expensive

    Year 1 = 1.033mill
    Year 2 = 833k
    Year 3 & 4 = 1. 433 mill

That is if hes even coming back. To me 3 groin injuries in a season could = Permanent LTIR trip

And then you trade Nylander in a separate deal if you decide to go a different direction.

If the sweetener to get a 3.8M cap dump is a point-per-game forward teams will line up for that. Mrazek's buyout isn't even that expensive.

I feel its either Buyout or LTIR retirement (so to speak) as if he comes back after 3 groin injuries than give this man a Medal. As when was the last time a goalie suffered 3 groin injuries in a season and came back

Feel bad though as he was just finding his game and the injury fairy Will Smithed his ass

But hey if he does go on LTIR (retirement) then he is moveable as many teams wanting to hit the cap floor could trade for him (Little or Boychuck)

Mrazek is starting to go down the Ben Bishop injury road. Ben tried coming back one final time but couldn't do it and retired.

Yep and its sad as he was just finding his game but I just cant see him coming back from 3 groin injuries. And even if he does how long before the next one.

I got a feeling it could be LTIR retirement where he gets all his money but just doesnt come back and gets us 3.8 mill in space.

Works for the player and the team

Heck makes him easier to move. As teams who want to reach the cap floor love these guys. As he can just stay on IR get his money and help his new team reach the floor.

wow that would be horrible for the leafs. you'd be better off using a 2nd to dump mrazek to a cap floor team and get actual value for nylander.

It's not just 3 groin injuries, it's 3 groin injuries in a very short amount of time. That alone should be something Mrazek has to ponder.

You are correct. Maybe the Leafs can get more in a trade, maybe I showing my Leafs fan pessimism. But I still like the concept of Mrazrek and Nylander going to Arizona, a team with cap, and it's low $$$ cost to the Coyotes. Of course the Leafs will get a like to get better return, but the additional cap space allows for better signings, which is kinda like a trade in itself.

We went from needing to include a 1st round (hilarious) to "dump" Mrazek's contract to now we have to include Nylander?

This site gets more and more ridiculous every day.
