I doubt NJ even considers that, but who knows, stranger things have happened. There is also no reason for the Canes to make that move. Gardiner is LTIRetired, so the Canes will just ride out his contract with him on LTIR. Bear helps us compete now, whereas Bryson is futures. Carolina has no need of futures right now.

the way I see this devils trade is:
a good depth player who is likely about to make slightly too much for an overpaid, overhyped shooter
a disappointing former top draft pick for a disappointing former top draft pick
Severson for a first

the value is bad and I'd be frustrated if Tom took this deal. Especially when Severson should be able to return a package like this on his own
