0 chance the Canucks would consider moving Demko, unless NJ wants the Hughes brothers to all play in Vancouver together

They would if you’re offering them the pick to select Nemec or Jiricek. They desperately need a top end RD

It’s already been reported that Demko is one of 3 untouchables for the Canucks, he’s the main reason they even had a shot at playoffs for a little bit. They won’t trade a franchise goalie on a steal of a contract unless it’s a ridiculous overpay that no team would pay

For the sake of argument, 22 unprotected first + mercer + Walsh or smith? Is this close at all?

In a world where the Canucks trade Demko I have to think that gets it done. Canucks might also want Blackwood involved as they would have no goalies with more than 6 games of NHL experience with Halak being an FA

Obviously I don’t think the Devils would give that up, and the Canucks won’t trade Demko, but hypothetically speaking I think it would take something like that

The difference in value between Boeser and Zacha doesn't equal a 1st rd pick, it's way less.
Honestly I'd rather let Canucks deal with his 7.5m QO.
Devils shouldn't be trading 1sts for short term gain anyway, it's too early in the teams cycle for that.
If they were to, I would prefer them going for Fiala, Garland or possibly Mangiapane over Boeser.
But would be even better to try for one of Burakovsky, Nichushkin, Gaudreau or Forsberg in FA.

I wouldn't sign Manson.
I think he's past it, hasn't played well these past few seasons from what I gather.
Would rather give Walsh a shot on the third pair, he looks ready for the NHL by now.

Putting McLeod anywhere other than 4C is a big nono, he's more of a liability than an asset higher in the lineup.
Also, Bernier's probably done playing pro hockey.
I'd do the lines for next season like this:

Sharangovich - Hughes - Mercer
Bratt - Hischier - Holtz
Garland - Boqvist - Johnsson
Wood - McLeod - Bastian

Siegenthaler - Hamilton
Graves - Severson
Smith - Walsh

Blackwood
Daws

// Kuokkanen, Tatar

The 1st and Mercer are great pieces for Vancouver, but goaltending is just too important. We've seen great teams sink due to nothing but goaltending. We've got one of the best ones in the league and he's young enough to stick around, I would rather keep him than make this deal.

Jack Hughes or nothing, so nothing it is.

Unfortunately not at the price of Demko. We can get young RHD without trading away our franchise goalie. We are blessed with Demko and have no one to replace him

No they definitely wouldn't. Demko is the only player that new management has referred to as a franchise player. He is probably the most untouchable player they currently have.

Borck Boesers QO is $7,500,000 x 1 year so he's not signing a one year deal for lesser money than that. And than giving up a 2023 1st rounder on top of it.
