Im super excited to see this kid

Created by: Imagine875948
Team: 2021-22 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 5, 2022
Published: Apr. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Svejkovsky has been killing it in the WHL with 30 points in 24 games with the Medicine Hat Tigers and 43 points in 31 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds and a total of 78 points in 58 games with 34 goals. He looks like he's gonna be another Jake Guentzel and I have high hopes for this kid. Definitely our best prospect and he should play next year imo. His position is C/RW so I assume he plays as a RW considering our C depth is good. But yeah he looks to be a very promising guy.

WHL to NHL is a massive step even having decent point totals dont always translate. I would be shocked if he was in the show next year

I’m not saying he’s good or bad, or that he’s ready or he’s not. However, finishing 20th in WHL scoring in your draft +2 year as a 20 year old isn’t exactly an indicator of NHL success. There are undrafted guys ahead of him.

I think you're all correct. It's ok to be excited about a prospect tearing up a junior league. But I felt the same way about Zadina dominating the Q in junior. It hasn't translated to the NHL. I've learned to be cautiously optimistic with prospects.

Its so very unlikely he doesn’t need seasoning in the AHL.

I just think he's a pure image of Guentzel. I mean you play him with Sid we already know whats gonna happen

There’s nothing wrong with being high on a prospect or being hopeful. I think this rhetoric about “he should play next year,” is bordering on delusional optimism.

I also can’t really see how a guentzel comparison makes any sense. Guentzel spent three years before pro hockey dominating a league (NCAA) where was one of the younger players, not one of the oldest. Then he still got parts of two seasons in the AHL, becoming a full time NHLer when he was what? 23? Apples and oranges.

Not really a great comparison due to the season being shortened, but the 20 year old who finished closest in league rank in scoring to this guy last season, spent half his time in the ECHL this year. It would be a ridiculous long shot for him to play in the NHL next season.

I agree with you on how he probably wont play NHL next year. But I think once Carts retires he gets his chance in the bottom 6. I love the way he plays and I think he's gonna be good (My prediction)

hey hope he does odds are just stacked against him. go back 2 years ago to whl scoring leaders ( last year was a right off)
3 of the top 30 scorers in the league made the NHL and that was this year.
Cozens 1st round pick
jarvis 1st round pick
Protas 3rd but spent half the year in the AHL.

protas is the only comparable really (as the the other 2 higher points and better prospects) spent last year split between the KHL and AHL playing against men...

so he might turn out to be something doubtful its next year

That’s fair, and you could be absolutely right. But word of warning, i would wait until he plays professional hockey before getting too excited. Even the jump from the whl to the ahl is a big one.

Production is good, but doesn't really stand out by the standards of a 20 year old in the W. Probably wait for an AHL season or two before breaking out the Guentzel comparison
