Then I'm pretty shocked you like the Kane, Ceci, Hyman, and Yamamoto deals. When looking as GAR from EH and using an "average" baseline, only Barrie and Puljujarvi, of the ones you've mentioned, are above average.

I don't use 1 number metrics. They're dumb by definition.

I mean, Kane is literally on pace for 41 goals and 72 points over 82 games - how is that below average?

Hyman in 23rd in the league for 5v5 goals and he PK's like a demon - how is that below average?

Buddy I /literally/ just asked you if you were an advanced stat guy and youre hitting me with points! lol

And you're using them as a 1-number metric! lol

Because they're 13th in the league in xGF% and 20th in the league in goals saved above expected despite having the best player in the world and another one in the top 5.

Poor on ice performance got Dave Tippett fired. Since then the Oilers are 18-7-2 (5th in the league). They are 6th in the league by 5v5 GF% and 9th by xGF% in that time. Holland clearly has improved the team.

Evander Kane was one of the biggest mid-season additions in the league. Because it didn't happen minutes before the deadline doesn't dull its impact.

This is why I asked if you were an advanced stat guy. Because despite Kane's points, his underlying metrics are not great!

Check his GF%. That's the metric that matters most.

That doesn’t even remotely get you Girard. Zero interest in Blackwood when they can just re-sign Kuemper. Johnsson and a 3rd doesn’t even get the Avs to answer the phone. It makes me shake my head how people on CF think Girard is worth so little. Top pairing capable, 30pts a season w/no PP1 time, can play both sides, eat 20+ minutes a game and is locked up long term on a team friendly deal. The Avs don’t listen to anything that doesn’t have a top 6 winger (like a 50+pt guy) locked up to a similar type contract with a kicker.

Well A.) I had not realized that the Girard rumors were in the context of Eichel trade, B.) the value here is Blackwood if Kuemper bounces, and C.) Johnsson is on pace for 43 points and he only costs 1.7M here giving you both a good mid-nine player and cap space to sort out the rest of the roster as needed.

And that still doesn’t get you Girard for 5 years on a seeet heart deal. Blackwood don’t even take into consideration the vaccination thing, but he hasn’t proved anything. Johnsson is a dime a dozen. Johnsson “is on pace for 43pts” and exactly what do you think his ice time looks like in COL, and why would COL even care about a rental? Tell me how many 23yr old top pairing capable dmen that score 30pts NOT playing on the top unit eating 22+ minutes signed for the next half decade at below market rate exist in the NHL? Do you really think COL would sell a top 4 piece (for them) for anything less than a premium package even if “Kuemper bounced”? I mean ffs Chiarot is worth a fraction and look at what he brought in.

GMs do stupid things all the time homie. Good players traded because "they don't play the right way" or because the cap gets tight, etc. Yes it's, not likely. No it's not the most far fetched thing in the world, especially on this site lmao

That latter part I agree with. But with what COL traded away at the deadline in Barron and Helleson, can’t see the Avs trading any of Makar, Toews, Byram or Girard. Next year when Toews is eligible for an extension and Byram is off his elc that might be a different deal.
