JT needs speedy, defensively responsible players to get the puck and get back fast.
Matthews line is yuck.
Kerfoot-Nylander connection from last year's playoffs.
Great checking line with Kampf.

Each of the top 3 lines has sandpaper - Bunting, Blackwell, Simmonds.
Work Willy into the JT line taking some minutes from Mikheyev and Blackwell if he's not getting enough minutes.

On D, Rielly - Lyubushin has been good. Muzzin-Brodie could be a great shutdown pair. And Gio-Lilly has looked really good too. Sandin won't get enough games in before playoffs to be confident, and Holl sucks.

Holl doesn't suck, he just needs the right partner. I trust him in his own zone better than Liljegren (although be does keep improving) and Sandin. Holl gets too much hate for being a good player who is low maintenance.

He has been noticeably bad for about a year now. Only reason he might get in before Sandin would be if he'd have to go into the playoffs cold bc of the injury. I don't see how he's better than Liljegren, especially over the past couple of months.

We have luxury in that he's realistically a 6th/7th D that makes for a great 8th D (which is what he is on this team), but he's not better than the guys ahead of him.

Holl has been good since he came back from Covid. I think many fans are just looking for reasons to be angry with him. Personally, I do hope Liljegren takes it and runs but he has a lot of flaws still and at times gets beat really bad in his own zone.

Holl is garbage. 6th to 7th defender at best. He is garbage at skating and is literally falling 90% of the time, loves to shoot the puck off of defenders' shin guards OR, my personal favorite, lose control of the puck with literally a wide-open shooting lane. He is big for nothing. Doesn't know how to box out people infront of the net. Like, I don't see what people see in him. Liligren is 10x the defender he is and can actually do stuff with the puck.

+ to add, Holl has only looked playable since the covid break because TJ Brodie is THAT solid of a player.

If you want proof of what I'm saying, take a look at the play in the offensive zone against Dallas before the Stars tied it 3-3. He loses control of the puck, causes the counterattack back, leafs are scrambling, then ice the puck. Dallas scores off the next faceoff. He has no puck control and can't stay on his feet

You have your mind made up and only look for faults. Too many Leaf fans are this way. Holl is a plus 13 on the year. That is 2nd best on the team (out of the defence). I know plus minus isn't an ideal stat but it's not all together useless. He's got great underlying numbers and he is fast for a big guy. The hate he gets is ridiculous. I am not saying he's the best but he's far from garbage. Chiarot is garbage. Zaitsev is garbage, etc etc. Holl is a serviceable NHLer but unless you're great some fans only want to see the flaws.

I wouldn't say I look for faults, I'm just saying he is literally the leafs 8th best defender right now, and thats more of a credit to the Leafs being that deep and others playing that much better than him.
He isn't an AHLer and is 6th defender on all 31 teams I'd say. But he simply isn't better then what the leafs currently have.

+ Kinda hard to overlook his faults when they are self inflicted and there are that many more than his postives

I see a lot of faults in Liljegren and Sandin as well though. Liljegren has been much better recently but over the whole of the season, he's been weaker than Holl. If he keeps it up then I am happy with Liljegren or Sandin when he's back. Although Sandin does scare me when other teams cycle on him
