Nobody wants Barrie and Yamamoto isn’t signing less than by 4 million after the Fabri and Debrusk extensions

Debrusk and Fabri are 2 years older and on their second 2 year bridge. More of a comparable is andreas athanasiou's contract.

Barrie would be a direct replacement on dallas when klingberg walks because he wants 7 million.

I would sign Yamamoto, and Puljujarvi to bridge deals. Trade Barrie, Kassian. Smith hopefully retires, get a goalie, RHD, depth. We can do it. Cap goes up to 82.5M as well…

I know we are keeping Keith. Smith will retire I bet you. Barrie has some value. A team like Dallas, Seattle will want him. Kassian is a good veteran to have on your team. Arizona, Philadelphia will take him. It will probably be similar to the Nick Ritchie trade, except a little lower, as we wouldn’t be getting a Ilya Lybushkin type guy. We are just looking to dump him. You got Dzingel, Lybushkin for Ritchie and a conditional 3rd. Surely we can dump Kassian with a 3rd then. It only makes sense.

Smith is owed 2,5 million dollars and if he retires he forfeits that money. He’s not leaving that money on the table but him out or ur stuck with him

He will leave, if not he will go on LTIR for some reason. He’s not playing next season. He can be the goalie coach. He will retire if he is guaranteed a spot. The oilers just can’t overthink things. Trade off the guys we don’t need, and go back into the playoffs.

Smith is a painless buyout or a leg surgery away from being out for the season.

A doctor checks in on players when they are on LTIR and he’s not retiring with 2.5 million in salary on the table

He will if he is the goalie coach. Also, yes a doctor checks in… just like they did for Kucherov. It’s really not the biggest deal. I don’t see him playing honestly, and if he does, we improvise. Help the other positions of need, and hope he can play like he has been lately, and like he did last season.

man if ben chiarot can go for a 1st round pick plus more then the highest scoring d-man last year(don't worry I know he sucks but some gms will definitely bite) can 100% snag a second round pick

Actually yes it is. You ever seen contenders? They trade the guts they don’t want, and sign good players. Smith will retire if given a job with the organization.

I guess hoping another gm is stupid could be a decent strategy but anyone who has watched Barrie before knows he’s really bad

Not when he's owed 2.5 million. Goalie coaches don't get paid that much.
