retain 50 percent of zaitev contract give injury prone patrick another chance before he goes to europe
they csnt fit stone into lineup cuz of cap restraints even tho he is ready to come back and cut the ltir for vegas they violated that rule

But how is this cap relief. Can't keep Murray on the IR when he's healthy. Him, Zaitsev (even half retained) and Brown will cost more than these guys.

VEG gets a better return selling them off in pieces for picks

if murray on ltir it saves vegas 10m in cap relief so they can add mark stone to roster

but this would have to be an offseason trade, as any player traded after the deadline cannot play for or be on the roster of the NHL club. As well, Murray just can't stay on the LTIR for the next couple years, he'll have to come off when healthy (not sure how he gives them 10m in cap rrelief when his contract is only 6.25). Vegas is already over the cap for next year. They're definitely going to have to move some big contracts, and if they can't they'll lose younger pieces for less than market value, but they just can't take a chance on a contract like Murray's thinking he'll spend the rest of it on LTIR.

This trade has them taking on 14.35 mil, while only shedding 6.45 guaranteed and then whatever Hague gets as an RFA. even if Murray does stay on LTIR for the rest of his career, they're actually in a worse cap situation.

IMO, OTT would be better off just going after Hague and giving up a decent draft pick or prospect.
Zaitsev is going to be tough to move. I think any team would take Brown.

If it comes out that Murray is LTIR-retiring, then I would *love* this.

league should force vegas to pull stone and smith from ltir since both are cleared to play...punish vegas by having them place dadanov theodore martinez and smith on waivers so 3 of them can be claimed to fit stone into lineup since vegas is almost 15m over the cap..problem solved and next season restrict vegas to limit of ltir use as it applies to sens so if sens put any on ltir vegas can match with same amount....i think thats a fair deal for a team who clearly is circumventing the ltir rule

hague and howden both placed on ltir? how fake can that be....vegas should be fined daily for keeping stone on ltir when its known fact he is cleared to return the fine should be stones contract worth per day for every day that stone is able to return which was over a month ago
