For 1 year of a 50 point center? Better deal to be made than this.

He's more then a 50pt center, he's a fringe 30/30 guy. He's an all situations 200ft center that's one of the top 15 face-off men in the NHL. What are you relly giving up?

Late 1st - has a 65% chance of playing at least 100 NHL games. Even if they do make it, they typically are 3yrs out

Studnicka - middle 6 upside, but if you sign Horvat long term where does Studnicka fit? He's not playing RW for Boston. They tried and and didn't seem to like it.

Beecher - bottom 6 upside C/LW. Has a good enough d-game and skating to be a 4th liner. If he finds the offense a good 3rd liner.

If that's all it takes for a 26yr Bergeron-esque center sign me up

I don’t think 7.5 million for Boeser is a terrible contract tbh.

Well you’re biased or trolling then. Cause that’s terrible for Boeser.

For 1 year tho? With an extension, no brainer. 1 year? Meh. I’d save the assets and go after Trochek as a FA, older and step down but would come with term.

Let him get to Boston and have it sell itself. He'd basically be Bergerons replacement when he calls it a career. I know what I'll get with Horvat. Beecher, Studncika and the 1st are all unknowns.

Is getting rid of Goodrow & Nemeth for Miller really a downgrade?

When you include everything in the trade also it is. Not to mention not being able to keep other players like Copp. When wording it as only losing nemeth and Goodrow it sounds great, but when you add the others in an look at the full picture it’s not close. I shouldn’t have to explain it either

Tbh I would target Matheson instead of Marino, but you would get labelled as a troll if you did cuz people think MM isn’t good

Matheson has had his best season of his career this year, both analytically and in points. However that would be 3 pretty expensice LHDs long-term for Vancouver, and Sullivan has been pretty good about playing Matheson in situations that suit his style of play. I'd argue that he's been consistantly good more than every Pens Dman except Letang this year, but I don't know if that would carry over in another organization. I think I remember him being a healthy scratch in Florida a few times before being traded.

But Miller is a huge upgrade over Strome and Copp, while as for Lafreniere, he’s meh. Not much of a difference maker.

So overall the core would be: Kreider-Zibanejad-Chytil, Panarin-Miller-Kakko, Lindgren-Fox, Miller-Trouba/Schneider.

Maybe you can package Lundkvist + Chytil for a RW.

Hard pass.. no NYR fan will agree with you either. Laf has quietly been one of our top guys 5v5 so I wouldn’t classify it as meh. JTM may have just had his best season but I’m taking Copp, Goodrow, Laf, 1st and whatever else is lost in the move over JTM. I don’t have to think about it either.

I’m not overly impressed w/Goodrow tbh, it seems to be a lot of money for a role player. Copp is good but you need elite centers if you wanna win a cup.

My issue is I don’t think Laf is ready to be an NHL caliber contributor any time soon. I just feel like he’s struggling to get the basics down. He always takes a touch too late which kills his teams’ chance of exiting the zone and getting set up offensively. When they do start a cycle, he is tentative about picking a path to go to support his teammates. When he puts himself in an open spot to receive a pass, he’s not in the right posture to handle it. Just feels like whatever line he’s on, they can’t make a successful gain control of the offensive zone or get set up, it always ends up back in their end.
