While Ristolainen never lived up to expectations and the whole is less than the sum of the parts, the Sabres could use his physicality and Samuelsson could be a very good partner for him - the Sabres had to trade him because they couldn't give him a raise in an extension and offering less would just lead to bad blood - Ristolainen is a sensitive guy and Philly fans are kind of vicious and hated the trade from the get go but you can't boo the guy into better play.
