Yeah, I’d rather see the Blues approach a trade for a LD guy. I think the idea of acquiring Graves and Bastian from New Jersey for Barbashev and Mikkola is a solid move. That way Neighbours enters the lineup and Graves plays with Parayko. The fourth line then becomes a big body line with Brown (6’6”), Torp (6’3”) and Bastian (6’4”) who can cycle other teams into exhaustion.

Why does everyone suddenly want Bastian? He's a terrible skater and bad defensively. I'd rather keep Barby than move him for a big ball of meh, and let Neighbours apprentice for a while on the 4th line. McLeod I'd understand, but Bastian? That's a pass from me.

But yeah, gimme one of Gavrikov, Soucy, Graves, something like that. No need to overspend for a monster name here. If Colt plays like he's played over most of the last 2-3 months, we don't need an All-Star as his partner. We just need someone solid who can skate fairly well.

I just said Bastian for the fact he is cheap that pieces is replaceable. More focused on getting Graves and a forward for Barbashev and Mikkola. Barbashev walks after next year so why not cash out?

1- Fair enough.

2- Because it would be chipping another physical/ playoff tested piece off our strength up front at a time when we're contending? I mean, not that they would not be getting added strength elsewhere, but it's always a weighing situation - change Bastian to something more useful and it weights out better. But I'm not resigned to losing him just yet anyway .

I’ll make a post with like a trade about Graves and McLeod going to STL for Barb and Mikkola and see if it even works cap wise

I think NJ not wanting to trade McLeod is probably the main reason it won't work. tears of joy

Oh for sure, interesting off-season ahead of us. Getting Husso signed is priority one at this point. Then worry about defense after
