The habs deal doesnt make a ton of senese for the sabers but that aside Sergachev is worth a whole lot more than a later 1st and a 2nd.

The Jets can get closer to what they gave up for Dillon, in a trade of him.

Skinner is playing great this year. He's not a 9 mill player, but with all your cap space, I say keep him and see if his value increases in a couple of seasons if there's a need to trade him.

In a nutshell, I'd rather have the shorter Price's contract (and LTIR candidate before the end of it). He's still the face of the franchise and lead the team to a SCF a few months ago and can single-handedly steal high-stakes games. Skinner has 845 career GP and not a single playoff game. But yeah, adding Buffalo's 2022 1st is way over the board lol.

Skinner could easily become a 15 goal scorer again in Montreal's system. No way Montreal or Tampa do those deals.

Skinner contract is better than prices

I really like what the Sabers have building but that Montreal trade makes no sense at all. Price having missed the year and carrying a $10M caphit has crazy negative value. Meanwhile the Sabres have 3 higher end goalie options in the pipeline IMO in Luukonen, Devon Levi and Erik Portillo. Bringing in Price likely results in both College guys going the UFA route and you have Luukonen blocked until he's 27 years old or you have a $10M backup. It just doesn't make sense.

With that said, that return for Dillon is low considering we paid 2 - 2nds for him last offseason. counter proposal of 2nd + Portillo's rights for Dillon.

Yeah at least Skinner does score around 30 goals per season, Right now Carey Price can't even stay healthy.

I threw up in my mouth when I saw the Montreal one. Skinner is overpaid, but he's back to scoring 30 goals, take the good with the bad. Nobody is taking price, I don't think petry has a ton of value, you could throw the picks out and buffalo still turns that down. And they are right to. The Sabres left d right now- power, dahlin, Samuelsson, Bryson, and former first rounder Ryan johnson. What's interesting to me is that the value for sergachev is so far off, the Sabres would almost have to make that trade and flip him, and I know he can play both sides, but I suspect they want at least one additional right shot d. Of course there's no reason the Winnipeg trade works for buffalo, we are paying for a guy that's under contract for several years, that we can't use.
