Description

The plan here is to keep term short for Johnny. And Tkachuk will only sign short term anyways. With a big cap bump expected and Johnny’s confidence betting on himself to perform / age like Pat Kane, I think he will agree to a 5 year deal at big money. Which Flames mgmt will be willing to dole out if he supports / leads a playoff run.

I don’t think Lucic retires (especially after a big run) and I don’t think Flames management pays a first or second to move him. So I think the best way out of the cap crunch is trading Mang. Which is far from ideal but he’s a marketable asset at a position of strength. I think we get a decent haul, but not that much more than Arvidsson. And we can’t add a roster player so it’s all futures unfortunately. Would be nice to land a future depth centre.

I also think if Dube can be shipped out at value, the team would love to resign Jarnkrok.
