That's what I mean from the title, the Bison King would be better over time but I think Holland would salivate at the chance to put Willy beside Drai or McDavid

Was going to make the 2nd and first but didn't want to get yelled at. I think it makes sense for the Leafs just to create cap space

I almost feel like he'd have to say yes just to show McDrai that he's making "moves" to optimize their prime. Feels like it would be the kind of thing he'd get killed for if it came out that this deal was on the table and he passed.

Yeah a smart GM wouldn’t trade Puljujarvi for Nylander, but I agree that Holland likely does this.

Honestly seems like a deal that would be good for both teams, extra compensation going back to Toronto can be argued but at least as the base of a deal Pool Party for Willy makes sense

I agree - but Puljujarvi is just as good as Nylander right now and Holland could probably sign him on a 6 year deal around 5.5 mill per. I’d take Puljujarvi at 6 years @ 5.5 over Nylander for 2 years at 6.9 mill.

I just don't see how the Oilers can fit that extra 4m into their cap next season. Think the Leafs do the trade for cap reasons though.

You've got to be kidding here. Nylander is better by such a wide margin. Pool is already 23, at this point it's pretty clear what kind of player he's going to be. And it's not remotely close to what Nylander does.

So 34 points in 59 games is better than 68 points in 71 games. And yes points are everything here because Puli offers nothing the Leafs need beyond production since thats what Nylander does best. How is he better? Apart from just not being a leaf?

Puljujarvi is an elite two way play driver. He makes the players around him better. Take your victim mentality somewhere else lmao - nylander is good but Puljujarvi is at worst equal to him overall.

Lol any GM that would make a bad trade just to gain some cap space is just as bad as a GM that overpays an aging vet in FA and gives them term. This is a bad deal, TO gets a far lesser player for some cap savings but now are a much weaker team offensively. Much weaker and we don't get anything we need beyond cap space which wouldn't come close to replacing the missing offence we get from making this trade.

Also this doesn't show what he does without McDavid or Draisaitl. Just what they do without him and I think that speaks more about the lack of depth the Oilers have, they literally have nothing for wingers. So yeah this kid showing well with analytics doesn't mean anything when he just doesn't produce enough.

Sad you can’t read a simple chart. This shows that Puljujarvi makes Draisaitl and Mcdavid better. Using only points to evaluate offensive impact is a flawed argument. The Oilers score a ton of goals with Puljujarvi on the ice and give up very little. That’s what matters.

You have to be a really bad player to not look good with McDavid
