I think Minny gets more for Fiala. with Dobson breaking out, I'd rather have a more defensive D to pair with him than Ghost who is really just another Nick Leddy.

How would you pay for Barzal and Wahlstrom's contracts in the off season?

varlamov's deal is up at the end of next year, you bring in a league min guy to replace mayfield and that's 5.5 mil for the both of them. i'd think the absolute max barzal could get would be 10mil (but probably more in the 8.5 realm) and then you can give wahlstrom up to 3.5 and still be under the cap, especially if it goes up after that. plus ghost is a UFA so who knows if they'd keep him and there's flexibility there as well

I'd rather see Räty and the 1st for Fiala. Gotta believe when Guerin send Fiala to the auction this summer. Sens, Devils, Kings, Sabres, and Islanders will all be looking at him. I'd say the East would be Billy's preference but the kings have a lot of young talent they could persuade Bill with.

Varly and Ghost come off the books. As does Mayfield (prob not resigned). That’s $11m right there. Plenty to go around

That pick will prob be top-10, Raty IMO is too much. If he were the prospect it would prob have to be a lottery protected 2023 1st instead. Agree Fiala is going to probably move because of the cap crunch they are facing though

Probably is a pipe dream but if a bidding war ensues a guy can dream.

Yeah islanders don't want to give up raty and they don't have anyone else to trade so probably not a fit

Just click on the tab that says "Long Term Outlook" and you'll see they'd have $20MM in cap space the next offseason.
