After draft day comes and goes

Created by: SCGLisme2
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 13, 2022
Published: Apr. 13, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Can't see them being lucky enough to get Shane Wright but who knows.
This team is building and would contend for a top 10 pick again next season.
Also very thin on the LW.
Not sure of constitutes a rebuild or not?!

Price just carried his team to the finals and posted amazing number, if he's healthy and shows he can play again carey price at 5M is going to cost a hell of a lot more than that.

Edmonton and Colorado can’t take on 5M unless they send cap back. With that being said, I think I rather get a cheaper goaltender this year, as we are tight against the cap. Even if we can afford 5M, I rather give it to a proven guy that doesn’t have a big chance of getting injured again. If Price goes down, we are screwed!

Yeah, the "carried" his team somewhere once in 14 seasons. Instills a ton of confidence.

He is 34 now and signed for another 4 years at a $10.5M cap hit. 35+ isn't going to be his best years (and don't forget, his best years got 1 run in 14 seasons). A "healthy" Price at $5.5M for the years of 35-38 a big cap hit, not a value cap hit. While a 2nd alone might be slightly short, there would not be much added to it; maybe a B-prospect at best. And that is only if a few "If's" go the right direction.

Price obviously has major nostalgia value for Canadian fans, but considerably less value to any other team, at 50% retention, No value without retention, even to cap floor teams.

Look at his playoff GA and save % since 2010 he's put up winning worthy numbers but hasn't had the teams to finish it off. His 2 before lasts years are incredible playoff numbers, he can't score goals too. To each their own opinion, price at 5M is getting way more than that

Like I said, nostalgia value. Ignoring the age component, plus I'll also add completely ignoring current situation and the psychological and physical repercussions. To each their own opinion, but some opinions consider more of the facts.
