Canes would have no interest in that return for Bear. C is not a need by any means for the Canes. If Bear gets moved, it likely is in a package for a top 6 LW. Mittelstadt is a decent bottom 6 forward, but Canes have enough C depth and not enough roster spots for said depth. Fitzgerald is ok, but nothing to really write home about. Canes pass.

Varlamov doesn't make sense for Buffalo. They've got UPL, Levi, & Portillo and only need to really hit on one of those guys to have a potential franchise goalie. Throwing one of them away for a pending UFA who'll be 33 next season is just silly.

As an Islanders fan, please, make the deal. Not sure what Brett Murray turns into but feels like you're bailing on a guy who's had a stellar year in Rochester, and you're adding a pick that's probably around 55-60 there? Huge overpay.

Levi and Portillo have to sign and then develop first, could be years. Though that trade is massive overkill for Varlamov
