it would absolutly be more than that. have you seen the price of defenseman the last 2 years?

I mean, I've seen the prices paid for players that teams can't afford to keep around. Even with Martinez on LTIR next year, you'll have, what, 5M? So no I don't really think it costs a lot more than getting you out from underneath Brossoit, if I'm being honest. a third feels fairly generous at that point, when you consider how hard that cap is screwed.

if I'm tom fitzgerald and VGK is gonna balk at a 3rd being added to that deal as not enough, I'd just sign him to a $4M AAV offer sheet, and either force them to hamstring their cap even more, or just give them a 2nd instead of the 3rd/4th/Bernier's LTIR deal for Hague's RFA rights and taking Brossoit's cap off your hands.

Yeah, their leverage is just so completely shot that any move that frees up space for them has gotta be considered. At this point be happy they aren't /paying/ a 3rd too, yak now lmao

Isles won't trade Varlamov who is doing great since the all star break, for a struggling goalie, and a forward who has only player 3 games this year. L trade. Isles strongly decline.

I agree with this. That being said both wood and blackwood are guys i think would be great buy low candidates.

sure, but i just feel you are acting as the only team that would try to get him. a young defenseman that can play second pair is not something you find everywhere. i dont think they get full value for sure, but if your not willing to give a second for him, another team would.

Yeah, I mean, I doubt it, personally. Not when they're taking on a cap dump. But, maybe you're right. NHL GMs do very dumb things all the time.

well you have to factor in that other teams will try to get him to. i dont see him het move for less than a second for sure. being cap strapped.means you lose leverage, but you wont give away good young corst controlled players for nothing, just because teams will bid against each other.

I could see it being more of a training camp type of deal, once Wood is skating and showing that he's recovered from the injury.

Personally, I don't hate it - Blackwood has shown flashes in the past and with the Isles' goalie coaches & system, I wouldn't be shocked to see him put up some very good numbers backing up Sorokin.

Wood is extraneous though, and would only really be necessary if they trade another forward this summer (they've already got 13 NHL guys signed to contracts for 2022-23). What do the Isles need to add if they wanted to swing the deal to Blackwood (no retention) & Ryan Graves for Varlamov & ?

Islanders should 100% take this offer then ship out Bailey for nothing

I mean, how many teams can afford to take back Brossoit and add Hague at 3M? So, while there may be some bidding, it won't be nearly as much as you're assuming to drive the price up to a 2nd.

OTTAWA is interested. Other teams will. Minnesota isn't trying to take on cap.

So they're not trying to take on cap, but the player has to be able to make the Wild..? lol

Remember when you said the Wild aren't targeting a winger or a defenseman at the deadline and they proceeded to trade for a winger and a defenseman? Good times.

Miles Wood is near bottom of his value. As is Blackwood. Teams could approach as buy low opportunities, but doubt a GM takes both risks in same deal.

Fiala is a great player and he and Nico have chemistry. But the price should be close to Buchnevich/Reinhart deals last year.

I'm just not in the mood to be yelled at by Minnesota fans. That one guy does it anyway though if it's not Jack and Luke going back.

I’ve stopped making ACGMs with Fiala for that reason. The last Mercer + top-10 pick ask was nuts.

I once made the mistake of making a Laine ACGM and the ask was Jack Hughes ++. Haven’t touched him since.

Pavel zacha isn't a C. Everyone knows what he's. So no, wild don't want zacha who has proven he's a winger , and not a C. Foote won't make Minnesota or at best be a 4th liner in Minnesota on a deal winger term. You wouldn't trade this players if they were good

He plays center and wing. Plays wing on the Devils because they have a bunch of centers and he is versatile. Stop acting like you know everything

He's been banned like 5 or 6 times by now at least. It's the same arguments and same bad typing. If you see a new account that is a Wild fan and he starts his arguments with "with all due respect" you can tell it's him on a new account trying to be nice. It's lasts about 3 days before he's back to stuff like this thread.

I'd love to see him be right and the Wild get a haul for Fiala but that's gonna be tough with so many teams that could use him being cap strapped. Guerin could very well get something like you've posted if there are limited options for trade partners. Guess we'll find out this summer.

He should get IP banned because he's just constantly going to make more burner accounts

Agreed with the 2nd part. Plus a bunch of good wingers are gonna be available like Forsberg, Gaudreau, Boeser, etc so the value of Fiala might drop if Gurinen wants a huge package for him
