Description
MOVING DATSYUK: THE SEQUEL

Complete spit balling here. No idea if this is fair value or not. But the way I see it, if DET doesn't win a lottery spot, and Liljegren and Mittlestadt are gone when we pick, I would consider using our 1st to move a contract off the books. CGY needs to fix their goalie situation. Not saying Howard is a slam dunk to do that; not even saying he would be their first or second choice; but if they miss out on some more attractive options this could be a win/win here.

2018 3rd pick (CGY) if they don't resign Brian Elliot, CGY keeps this pick. Assuming a trade for Howard would mean they don't resign Elliot.

didn't say they would...just said if they miss out on some more attractive options, howard could still be a decent short term fix until their prospects are ready...

NO WAY Detroit gives up 10 draft positions to GIVE AWAY Howard.
Sure we don't want him on the books next year, but the guy had great numbers this year and has at least some value

I think you're way overpaying to move Howard's contract. Also, is there anyone you want them to try and sign or trade for? At the moment you're not even using the cap space you freed up.
