Pettersson's worth is a early to mid 3rd maybe a very very late 2nd. In my opinion the pens should try for older prospects in trades. So I agree with you.

Detroit 3rd for Pettersson is fair I think.
I would prefer getting a prospects in trades because the Pens don't have much. I know Pettersson's not worth a blue chipper but a mid level one or someone that maybe isn't living up to their potential.

No chance Carolina does that. Staal is untouchable. Dumo for a second, and sending another piece to a third team for some retention is a deal, but the Pens are not getting Staal back.
