I very much want to see what fans of both New York and Calgary have to say here.

isles decline - Lindholm is a great fit on CGY but he needs to play with an elite player who can drive a line to maximize his potential. He'd be lucky to score 25 goals with Lee and smith.

You probably give up less assets in the Chych deal if you don't include Josh Bailey, but either way, I think that package still gets beat by some other team.

When I look at the lines after trading Barzal for Lindholm, I see a bunch of solid two-way players but no dynamic playmakers - lots of finishers but no one really setting the table. I don't think it's a bad trade, but I don't know how good the fits are after the fact. This is all my own gut feeling, fwiw, but just seems off to me. I'm sure someone can come along with some analytical reasoning behind what I'm feeling.

Good analysis - Lindholms an elite finisher who can find the soft spots in the ozone, but he’s not much of a puck carrier and he doesn’t create space for himself with the puck. His value + impact would fall off a cliff on the islanders because he’s going from playing with two superstars to solid 2nd players. Going from Barzal to Lindholm would make the islanders significantly worse despite the fact that Lindholm is currently having a better season than Barzal

Flames decline. Lindholm alone has more value than Barzal due to his contract
