Worth the offer sheet maybe

Description
What players do y’all think are worth an offer sheet?
Josh Norris would be my top pick but Ott would almost certainly match anything $8 mil and under so the cost would be too high. Hague seems like a good piece even though Wallander and jJohansson prob have higher ceilings. He could be a good stop gap or give Det an opportunity to trade other pieces to fill needs. He also shouldn’t cost too much and VGK will have a tough time matching. Would this be too much for Hague?
Ps. I know Stevie will never offer sheet anybody!

I just can't see Stevie going down the offer sheet road.

I would only offer sheet one year at a price that won't get matched. Then re-sign to a multi year contract for less $$$

I would argue against it for the following reasons:

1. We already have 8 young LD with a good to excellent chance of being good NHL defenders. Another youngster isn't what this team needs right now.
2. Hague is 23 years old and isn't a player that can teach Hronek to play defense nor is he someone that can mentor Seider, those are the two biggest requirements we should look for when acquiring a LD.
3. There is a high likelyhood that we have better players than Hague already in our system.
4. There are cheaper alternatives that fit our requirements better.

That's essentially what Carolina is doing with Kotkaniemi.

The Wings have too many unknowns right now if you are going to offer sheet someone it's that last piece that is going to put you over the top.

But Montreal did offer sheet Aho in 2019 so there was also a bit of payback there.

If I was going to offer sheet a defenceman I would honestly look at Liljegren. If it went through then maybe we could trade Hronek for a good centre.

The NHL would be a lot more interesting if GMs and owners weren't giant babies and strategically offersheeted often

I've been having the same thoughts. It's an interesting proposition.

Yep. Canes pretended it wasn't payback but everyone knew it was.

He's looked decent this year and I think think he's already better than Hronek defensively. I also think Hronek being young would have quite a bit of value.
