Why would NYR consider that?

You grossly over-value Anderson and Florida's late 1st round pick, Rangers aren't taking that deal for Alexis Lafreniere.

As a Habs fan I would do that bit not sure the Rangers would, some still think Lafreniere is a generational talent.

Remove Laf and NYR still say no. Josh's term is a hard sell, like most of MTL terms

Laf 20 years old - 17 goals no PP goals. = Bust
Caufield 21 years old - 18 goals 5 PP goals = future star

Yo habs fan here, both players are future stars. Dance with the one that brought ya, meaning they’re both young and need time to develop and respective clubs need to respect that.

That’s what I’m saying. I think they’ll both be great. Every expecting McDavid numbers is just ridiculous.

Exactly! They’re already guys on here expecting Shane Wright to be a top 6 center next season. Not every #1 pick is a generational talent, if they were it would kind of defeat the purpose of having the title of generational talent lol. Doesn’t mean they’re not going to be good, just means they may need a few seasons to come into their own.

I think the perfect example is MacKinnon, Barkov and Huberdeau. High draft picks that took some time before truly breaking out into the superstars they are today.

So many examples, one of my favourites is Jumbo Joe. #1 pick, didn’t start out so well but look at the career he’s had.
